Rent a movie on itunes? can you watch on ipad?

Anyone ever done this? How does it work? I guess it's like downloading music, except it's a movie

But can you then put it in on your ipad? Or do you have to use it with Apple tv?

Dh and I have a long car trip coming up and I was thinking that renting some movies off of itunes would be cheaper than activating 3G and using netflix.

Thanks! I was just wondering how the "renting" movies from iTunes works. Can you only watch it once? What happens when you watch it compared to just buying it on iTunes?

I have rented movies on my I-pod before. Once you start watching the movie you have 24 hours to finish it and then it is gone.

We do this for plane rides - I let each kid pick a movie to download. Like the above poster stated, you have 24 hours to start & finish it, you cannot save it any longer than that. It's a cheap way to keep them entertained!

It's very easy and movies look great on an iPad. There are instructions on how to do it at apple.com:

You can also load your own dvds on your iPad. You will need to use software such as WinX DVD Ripper Platinum (I use this).

We do this all the time for trips! When you rent, the movie will stay on your Ipad for 30 days until you begin watching. Once you start watching the movie, you have to complete it within 24 hours. Then they magically disappear.
