Do you have to renew your AP before it expires or is there a grace period? I should know this since I'm on the end of my second AP but I renewed before it expired last time. Thanks all.
Is there a significant savings to renew an AP rather than simply buy a new one? I ask because I was a Disneyland AP'er for many years. Disney gave a small $20 discount for renewing during the renewal window. Problem was that the AP start date remained the same. Lets say my AP expires on Nov. 1st. But my next trip there isn't until Dec. 10th. If I renew, my AP begins again at Nov. 1st. If I let it expire and then buy a new AP on Dec. 10th my new AP starts Dec. 10th. I get over a month more on my new AP. Well worth to give up the $20 discount.
A Florida resident renewing a Platinum pass saves over $100. The dollar amount varies depending on which pass, but I believe Disney markets it as being 10-15% off the full price of the new pass.
Also, people who use the monthly payment plan don't have to put down a new down payment on a renewal.
For mine, not a Florida resident, I think it's called the Platinum Pass now, just a regular WDW AP no water parks but with silly memory maker included no blackouts, the discount is about 15%. I think last time I looked it would save me about $60, which is a decent savings. I wasn't going to renew, just buy a new one so my expiration day would shift since I know I won't be back most likely until March, but I worry about prices increasing on them before then.
