Reneging on my agreement

Let me see Disney with DH and three kids. Spend $$$ for a suite or villa where kids share a room or spend less and have our 40' class A with queen bed, bunk beds, three TVs, three ACs, our full kitchen and the beauty and space of a FW campsite. Oh, and we can bring the dogs instead of spending $1000+ to board them. Yeah, enjoy your hotel room. FW is my favorite kind of luxury!

After 9 years of RVing in a fifth wheel DH got tired of setting up, breaking camp and driving the rig. He wanted luxury and pampering, and convinced me to sell our camper, at first to get a toyhauler so we could get a golf cart, but after we sold he said it would be cheaper to spend the money on hotel rooms rather than RV payments. He was right, I couldn't deny it. But without a camper, I slowly started to lose my mind.

I started going to RV shows and dealers, at first without DH, but he started coming with me. None of the toyhaulers seemed right, but I fell in love with a front living room Montana. I'm driving 6 hours north on Saturday to purchase it. DH likes it too. It satisfies his need for luxury and keep his wife happy.

That is so exciting! I have never camped at WDW, not because i havent wanted to but because we just have never been able to. We do "camp" all summer long though at a seasonal site along a lake in a camper with a queen size bedroom 2 tvs a kitchen you know all the goodies.
Dont let that guy rain on your parade because he does not like camping, that makes no sense that he is doing that. The only thing that i have noticed in all of his posts is how he repeatedly discusses his ex. weird!

Just looked at the Montana floorplan and stock photos you linked in your post! Man oh Man! That looks fabulous... ! I am a tent camper/sometimes pop-up renter and that looks like luxury to me!

Congrats on the new camper, the Montanas are very nice. My uncle bought a 39' rear living room model last year, definitely more luxurious than our camper.

Thanks, but there's absolutely no way someone bashing camping could rain on my parade! I am getting the most awesome, amazing, fantastic, wonderful camper! It's truly a dream come true for me. He doesn't understand what anyone sees in camping, and I'm really, truly, honestly glad not everyone does. I'm telling the truth when I say I can't get reservations sometimes. How sad for me to have my dream RV and not be able to go to the Fort because EVERYONE wants to camp!

Jeepin Dad, it's all my husband's fault, lol! He loves luxury. Funny, but for me the compromise was to get something nicer than I would have gotten, if it were only up to me.

Disbug, we started in a tent, then a three room tent, then a pop-up, then a fifthwheel. I've read on an RV specific board of people who go from a fifthwheel to a Class A, then back to a Fifthwheel. I think we'll just stick with the fifthwheel. I never was interested in having a steering wheel in my living room, a second engine to maintain, or the limited space (compared to a fifth wheel.). But I know there are plenty of folks who love their Class A's and wouldn't trade them for anything! Anyway, just keep camping and you'll end up with what's right for you. We're a bit older and it took us nearly to retirement to get to this point in our RVing life, lol.

Sorry for the double post, but did anybody notice on the floor plan of the camper we're getting that there's a back door? It's the little things that make me happy, lol!

I just noticed that. Now, my question, most places where we have camped that would mean if you walked out that door you'd be walking right into hoses or the electric hookup, etc. Do you dry camp or camp where the door might be more useful?

My parents just sold their 2008 (09?) rear living Montana and moved up to a Class A. They loved their Montana, as evidenced by the fact that two of my aunts also own Montanas.

For me the door on the other side means easier loading, since we have our RV on the left side of the house. No walking all the way around to the other side to get in. Additionally, it means when we make a quick stop on the road we can access the bathroom without sliding the slides, if need be. Also, it's a safety feature, in case we need a quick exit in an emergency. But it also gives a "homey" feel, being just off the kitchen.

I hope your parents enjoy their new Class A. There are a lot of really nice RV parks that are Class A only. Are they going to be fulltiming?

Excellent reasons for the door being on that side - none that we need (well except for the emergency exit, but hopefully we'll NEVER need that....). It's the little things that make each floorplan special though.

My parents are snowbirds. They spend Jan through March in the south. So, no, they don't full time, they part time. I agree that it's weird to have a steering wheel in your living room, though, so I'm not sure that it will ever be for us, but they enjoyed their first winter in it.

Have had 3 class A's and love them. I can move around getting snacks, drinks, etc. on the road, plus pulling into camping spot at night and not even getting out of our rig to level or sleep. Each thing has their pros and cons, and it's true not any one type fits everyone.

Am glad you have found your 'dream'. Have you brought it home yet?

Congratulations on your new big camper! I would love to someday have the opportunity to have something like that. Its not in our budget right now but hopefully some day.

Yep, with RVing, to each his own. I know that what we're getting is much too much for some. My sister and her family prefer a trailer. To them it feels more like "camping"

No, we don't have it yet. I'm signing the papers & giving them the check Saturday, then they'll install my washer & dryer. We have plans to go back, pick it up and camp two weeks later. Our shakedown trip is going to be only 45 minutes away from the dealer so if anything goes wrong we can bring it back.

Had one diesel pusher, the last two have been gas. Our latest (Winnebago) has three slides, one a 3/4 on one side, so have a very opened up floor plan with all slides out. Loved our 5th wheel (Carriage) layout once it was set up, but it was the rest we weren't fond of.

But, there's something for 'everyone' out there, and we just have to find our niche. The main thing is we are all out in the great outdoors and enjoying it! Happy Spring to all! (that's what the calendar says anyway )

Already had a weekend out in my 5er, then of course it snowed so I was happy I did not dewinterize it. End of the month is the next use of it for a 3 day 4 night adventure at the race track supporting the SCCA drivers school. That is when I know its spring time....even if the weather wont cooperate.
