We only plan on doing 1 meal without our children. Which would you choose and why? We are casual people and not big on "fancy meals" if that helps. Lol

My choice is Palo brunch. But, then, we've only done Palo dinner and brunch. The extra cost for Remy is beyond our comfort zone.

I find more things I like on the brunch menu than the dinner menu at Palo. And I love the Chicken Parmesan.

We have dined at both restaurants for both brunch and dinner. Based on the OP's comment that they are not big on "fancy meals" this would immediately rule out Remy. I'm pretty sure if you looked in the dictionary for a definition of fancy meals you'd find a picture of Remy. ;)

Palo brunch is the least fancy of these choices. Its also a really good meal with lots of food choices. That would be my #1 recommendation for the OP. Palo dinner is also a good take but a little more formal/fancy.

I'll choose Remy every time. Palo doesn't impress me in the slightest. It's "fancy" but it's Disney, so it's not as fancy as some other meals I've had.

Brunch is a good call. Remy is pretty awesome, but if it's not your thing, it would not be worth the money.

If you're not big on "fancy", I would steer clear of Remy and definitely do Palo. If you've never done either the sticker shock at Remy's can be pretty crazy. We chose a couple of "upgraded" courses and I won't even tell you how much our final check was. When DH ordered the Matsuzaka beef instead of what was on their menu and that alone was a $100 upgrade as I recall. He didn't realize at the time it was extra (were you LISTENING, DH?? Obviously not....*sigh*). And they had a black truffle season special chef's menu that would have been $250 EXTRA per person over the regular uncharge. Yikes!! I mean, I know truffles are like gold but wow.

We though Remy was lovely and for certain one of the fanciest and definitely our priciest meal EVER for just the 2 of us. I said, "It's back to Palo for us!", which we love. Palo is also lovely but not so pretentious and not nearly as pricey. DH and I travel a lot and we think the food and service at Palo are excellent. Have fun!

We had the same experience with upgraded courses. Our final bill was outrageous...but that caviar upgrade was the best dish of the evening! We're planning on skipping Remy next time.

Palo is fancy, but not as fancy as Remy. However, I will pick Remy every time because I find it so incredibly uncomfortable when the Palo servers hover over you at the buffet.

The last 2 times I've done Palo Brunch, the last being in January and before in last September, there was no hovering. I was accompanied to be shown all the options and left to take what I pleased.

We've never felt hovered over at Palo brunch. Done to probably 10 times now and we've always just been shown the buffet and then left to ourselves to decide.

Well, maybe I just got unlucky then, because they followed us around the little alcove, (over)explaining what various items were even though they were clearly labeled, and kept trying to serve us as we were reaching to serve ourselves. It was way too much attention to the point of being annoying.

I have seen a few other people here make the same observation, though it seems to vary from ship to ship. Maybe this is how they do buffets in Italy, and I'm just an uncouth American who doesn't know better?

Interesting. I've been to Italy but never to a buffet there.

Perhaps there was a nori-virus scare on that cruise that made them change their usual procedure?

On the magic they seem to leave you alone at Palo after the initial orientation. On the Dream they actually plated our food for us and carried it to our table.

We like Palo on the magic better and Felica the manager makes us feel welcome each time we return. That being said, we always really enjoy Remy every time on the Dream.

Every time I've done Palo brunch they've been annoyingly on top of me when I'm trying to get food.

I like Palo dinner better than brunch but I am in the minority. If you prefer casual then the brunch is definitely the way do go. I've only done the dessert tasting at Remy and the place definitely has the fancy feel to it. It would be silly to spend all that money to be uncomfortable rather than enjoying your food.

It is interesting to see what PP said about the brunch in different ships. I did it on the Magic and yes after the initial intro we could serve ourselves. The server came back and took the orders for the cooked to order food and gave us plenty of attention but not while we were gathering food.

I hate it when they try to help you at a buffet. there was someone helping with salad on the lunch buffet (can't remember which ship) and it drove me crazy because I take a tiny bit of everything and they always give me too much. I have limited space in my stomach and the server being generous leads to me being wasteful or missing out on trying everything else that looks good!

Thank you for all the suggestions. We are opting for Palo brunch. Sounds like Remy is something we wouldn't enjoy especially for the price.

You never know until you try. I'm not one to get dressed up. Getting me out of my flip flops is a feat of endurance, but I adore Remy. Don't discount *anything* until you've tried it.
