Remy on Fantasy

Hi

I’m doing 4 nights on the fantasy in December and I’m planning a remy dinner

I’m trying to work out what night is best to do it with out missing any of the shows, does anyone no the order of the shows

Am I right in saying the only night there won’t be a show is the third night as it will be the pirates night?

Also does it last about 3 hours remy dinner

I’m thinking the third night will be best but it’s also the day we are at lightening house point and thinking we might be quite full from the bbq food etc there

Just wanted a bit of advice in what you would do?

The 3 main shows are almost always performed on all cruises of 3 days or longer (barring technical or performer issues), so it’s a safe assumption.

It is most likely that Pirate night will not have one of the theater shows, but it will have a deck party. It is your call what you would be willing to miss for Remy.

Remy dinner takes at least 2 hours, so allowing 3 is reasonable. There are many courses, but each course is small. If you have an early-ish lunch on the island, you should still be hungry for dinner.

I have yet to have an afternoon show in 21 cruises. Others speak of this.

The beauty of beach day is being hungry after playing in water.

I also can’t imagine eating enough on a Disney island that I wouldn’t be ready for dinner. Everyone’s tastes are different. And you will know to watch how much carbs and fat you consume at lunch. Cut back on fruity drinks if those are your thing.

Whichever day you chose, pace your food consumption , starting at breakfast.

I also don’t remember Remy being that filling. Smaller, well- prepared and presented food, yes. As you mention, spread over nearly 3 hours.

That’s a good idea. The thought never even crossed my mind about the first show time as I’m so used to going to the second

Let me preface this by saying we only do 7-night or longer cruises and aren’t huge fans of MDRs.

The quoted is definitely my strategy. I don’t like pirate night and I can’t do fireworks due to seizures, so I love a nice long Remy dinner with cheese and port at the end. This is bliss for me. But I am also completely obsessed with ratatouille.

I also book a first night Remy because there is generally (from my memory) no real exciting entertainment on night 1. And like I said, I can have the best most relaxing dinner.

Also as an aside, if you are sailing on Fantasy in the very near future, if I remember correctly, Louis is the sommelier and he is just amazing! We adore him! I completely trust him and he never disappoints! And he always goes above and beyond for my port during my cheese course. He is seriously amazing!

I also think that Benoit (maitre’d) maybe on this ship right now, and he is an absolute treasure!

Just don’t forget to tip! If you are confused about who is included in what part of the tip, just ask and they will explain it all! We have always loved our Remy team. We even still keep in regular contact with one of our favorites.

Sorry this was so long, I haven’t posted in a while and try not to, but I feel very passionately about Remy, and just couldn’t stop my fingers.

If you use the sommelier for wine, 15%-20% of the wine bill. But if you do cocktails, you wouldn’t need the sommelier, so it would be a different situation. And I would just ask, they are very nice and more than happy to help explain it to you. (Also, I just googled this amount because I wanted to make sure, but you can tip as you see fit) For example, we had another adult dining experience where we didn’t feel tipping was necessary.

The maitre’d (again I googled it so I don’t get flack) it is up to your discretion. So if you felt he/she provided great service, totally up to you.

Also, it is easier to tip the sommelier and maitre’d in cash. This is like one of the only places on the ship where cash is acceptable.

I’m sure I may get flack on here or get roasted for talking about this taboo matter, but this is our experience - and we have asked many a questions to make sure. Others may have different opinions, but I’m just telling our experience.

Regardless, you will have an amazing experience! And great food! It’s one of our favorite parts of our cruise.

@motherdaughtercruisers - did you almost taste the meal and have happy memories as you typed your post? When I join in threads about my favorite destinations, I probably get a little endorphin release. This doesn’t happen so often regarding WDW. And I don’t participate in that forum.

I think a discussion on tipping for situations like fine dining or Concierge is usueful for those who are new to this - and are uncertain and possibly don’t know how or if to ask. I wouldn’t have thought to ask the person receiving the tip. But they are very nice in Remy - and do not talk down to the guests (which I imagine is a fear of the uninitiated). But, oh boy, a tipping discussion, in general, does generate a hornet’s nest. I can see why you would be leery of mentioning it.

In practice, the usual 18% autogratuity will already be added to your tab. How much additional you tip, and who you tip extra, is up to you.

The 18% auto gratuity is added to the cost of beverages. It won’t be added to the cost of the dinner.

I think this is likely the cast as the theatre can only hold 1300ish people when full on the Dream class. I wonder if they also look at how many first timers/silver members they have who aren’t likely to have seen the shows 5+ times already.

If they run three shows that means everyone on the ship could see it on a full sailing.

I hope you were being honest about the first part of your message (it’s just hard to come across on this type of platform). I genuinely do really love Remy. I nearly cry with excitement when my Mom and I go especially because Ratatouille got me through an extremely hard part of my life. I know tipping is a very taboo subject, that’s why I knew I’d likely get crucified for saying what I did, I was genuinely trying to be helpful. So I try not to even comment on this site any more, I just couldn’t help it since it’s Remy. I hope I didn’t offend anyone or overstep. If you get cocktails, I believe they go through the bartenders at Meridian (although I could be wrong, never asked that question), so if that were me, I would only tip what you would tip for a cocktail anywhere on the ship, nothing hefty. But that is just me.

Even if they do not use the Meridian bartenders, I would imagine the bartender used for cocktails would be someone included in the 18% autogratuity, and if so, I would tip as suits you. (For me, it would be what I usually tip for cocktails around the ship.)

However, I really don’t know about how cocktails work in Remy, and have never asked. We do the wine pairing (which is why we become very close to the sommelier), so I really have no idea.

Tipping really is a personal thing, so you should do what you want to do. I know it is already a very expensive experience, so you should do as you prefer - and that means making it special for you!

I nearly cry with excitement when my Mom and I go especially because Ratatouille got me through an extremely hard part of my life. I joke and make remarks that are humorous to me, but definitely are honest.

There a lot of posts I want to make that are honest but would sound mean. Sometimes I slip and post them. Usually they are after a bunch of contentious posts are in a thread.

But I kid you not about your Remy experience. I really wonder if other people get a positive reaction when discussing something they enjoy. Just thinking about it isn’t the same as sharing it - especially with those who also enjoyed it.

Okay, actually just taking the effort to think can pull up something special. In this case, I can picture being in a favorite restaurant in Raleigh, NC. The Angus Barn for those who know it. The setting, the pre-meal cheese spread in crock.

I can also remember the purse stool in Remy, but not one bite of food. It’s often the little things and the general feeling of delight, amazement or contentment.

Having happy memories is a joy of living. I feel sad for those that don’t have happy experiences and sorry for those who don’t appreciate the wonderful things they have had.

Hold on to those Remy memories!
