Morning all. So I am debating doing a splurg meal on my next cruise. Looking at the price fix menu however I wouldn't eat 99% of it. I wanted to check in terms of the a la carte menu a few things.

  1. Is there a minimum spend required? I think there are only 2 things I would eat on the entire menu and one of them is the dessert so wanted to check before I book anything
  2. Do you need to tell them in advance you aren't doing the fixed menu or do you mention it on the night?
  3. Any disadvantages of not doing the full menu do people think?

I would do the full course menu. We have eaten there twice this year and the food is incredible. If it’s something you think you won’t like I’d still try it as it’s prepared in a way you would never make at home or get in other restaurants. I frankly can’t understand what the courses even are on the menu because of how fancy the names are. Even though it says 5 courses it ends up being 10 with special surprises. I have a gluten allergy and really don’t love fish but the tooth fish on the menu was incredible. It’s a dining adventure and you won’t be disappointed, something you think you won’t like might just be your favorite course.

I've looked at what you get though and 100% would not eat at least 5 of those courses which is why I'm asking. I don't like wasting food especially when paying that amount. I wouldn't even try half of it as I'm so fussy. That's why I've never bothered before but as Cabanas isn't currently open on PIrate night and I hate the Pirate menu I'm trying to think of an alternative. Palo isn't available which would have been my go to.

To me, the value of Remy is in how small plates flow together seamlessly into a cohesive meal. If there are truly only 2 items you would eat, then Remy may not be a good choice. However, if you just don’t think the full range of menu items will be tasty to you, I encourage you to give them a try.

If there are foods you cannot or will not eat, let the restaurant know in advance, and the chefs will tailor a meal without them. My husband and I eat finfish but not meat or shellfish. He does not eat bell peppers and I do not eat mushrooms. Within these requirements, we got distinct dinners that were amazing, with every course a work of visual and culinary art. If you want all or no beef, or all or no fish, or all or no vegetables, they can do that. But the fewer rules you give, the greater the options for getting unexpectedly delicious plates.

If no one on these boards can answer your questions about minimum spending for the a la carte menu, you could certainly book Remy then stop by when you are onboard to ask your questions. If Remy won’t work for you, you can then cancel.

Another option, if you know the Pirate menu won’t work but you can’t get a Palo reservation, is speaking in advance with the servers in the main dining room to see what other menu options they could offer you for that night. If you have a limited number of dishes you like, you might be able to get one of them in the main dining room.

Thanks as said I'm sure it is all tasty but just not for me. I don't eat fish or shellfish or lamb or pork or most meat actually lol. I know I could request Veggie but again I'm so fussy on which veg I eat I know it would just cause a pain and I'd rather do a simple route of just ordering the stuff I know I would eat than risking still ending up not eating any of it. I'm very very fussy and I appreciate completely that Remy is meant to be a full menu experience. I've seen a veggie version and a regular and neither were very appealling at all and I wouldn't try most of it on either which makes it difficult.

Good suggestion re asking about other options in main restaurant although I might just give in and do french fries by the pool just wanted to try something a bit more exciting lol.
