Remy’s single rider line is problematic and inefficient

No they just didn’t want to be squeezed with the couple in front of her. I could tell because right when my family came up she immediately started talking to my young kids because of how awkward the situation she was in was. Such as there was a couple then her and the couple wasn’t interacting with her at all. she was a nice lady and I could see where the awkwardness comes from

This doesn't mean the line is inefficient though. It's a case of people not using the line correctly.

Is there single rider on MMRR?

No, but on MMRR they will sometimes go down the line asking for a single or party or two to fill in some space. This only happens once you are inside the loading area and pretty close anyway, but it can save a little bit of time. They do it this way on Space and sometimes Tower of Terror too.

This is on the CMs to make sure that there are three people in each row. If they're not going to do that, then what was the point of the single rider line in the first place? It seems like maybe Disney is understaffing the ride, so there is no CM available to follow through and make sure that the single riders don't just wait until the next rat to board. That has to be fixed.
Exactly.

People should complain to Disney if they see the CMs not enforcing Rat sharing. I saw a CM who did so it is possible, they watch each Rat get loaded and in this case they sternly told a couple who didn’t want to let the SR in “move over for the SR”. The Rat doesn’t depart until they approve the load after all…

In my case it was the single rider who purposefully didn’t join the call. There was no attempt to do so.
There are SRs who abuse the system, this isn’t the first report. Again, I would complain to Disney. CMs need to actually enforce ridesharing or be willing to show them the exit. Sorry you encountered one.

Can I ask what they do if they single rider can't fit in the car at Remy? DH is a rather larger guy and we always travel as a party of 2. We have zero issues fitting in the rat but I could see that the third person might not be thrilled. We are completely fine to be sat with another person but I am just wondering about procedure to be prepared. DH doesn't ride any roller coaster so I am always the solo rider and it can be very confusing to know what to do as there is rarely a CM exactly in place.
When we used single rider, there was a CM telling us which car to enter. I don't see that there would have been any problem with you saying, "don't think we will fit." The CM acted like a director-"you go here" and "you go there," but she wasn't mean about it.

Thanks, that's what they do at DLR as well. It is in the queue after the explosion.

That would eat up more time then the time it took to just wait in the first place.

I travel solo a lot, and I've had quite a mixed bag of experiences with single ringer lines, and generally just riding solo.

In January, I was riding Frozen Ever After on my own. Sometimes on boat rides they will seat a couple with me, or another solo rider. I don't have any issues with this. Happens in Pirates and Small World and such. But this time, I think a family misunderstood, because they shoved themselves onto the boat with me. Two adults and three children. And me! Four adults is a tight squeeze in Frozen. They realized it pretty quickly, but the gate behind them had closed. Two of the kids sat on their laps, and the oldest one sat between them. We were squished. It was super awkward, but I'd gotten on first and couldn't do anything about it.

Then once while riding alone on Big Thunder, an older man got in next to me. I'd sat down in the middle of the bench, and he asked me to scoot over. It was the oddest thing. The gate closed behind him, and I didn't know what else to do, so I let him in. I was so uncomfortable the whole time, and I think at some point he'd realized what he'd done because when we unloaded, he sprinted off the ride.

I think single rider lines are a great idea -- but only for certain rides. I don't want a stranger next to me on Thunder Mountain or Tiana's, where there's no barrier between you. But many other rides benefit from them. I think it just totally depends on the ride system. And from people paying attention to what's going on around them. Unfortunately Disney can't control the latter.

I've been solo on any kind of coaster ride. No one else in my group wants to ride. 7DMT, Slinky Dog, Everest, and Guardians. All of those I have been on with strangers. I laugh because it is awkward, but I want to ride.

I recently rode Remy as a single rider~ I only waited 10 minutes during a peak spring break week, I was so happy about that!..... until..... the person I got into the car/rat with, clearly didn't want me to ride with them (a couple). I mean, what am I was supposed to do? The whole entire ride, this person made rude comments to me and was verbally agressive to me. It obviously ruined the ride for me, but also for the other people in the car/rat and for themselves. I like the concept of the single rider line for this ride, but don't think it makes it enjoyable for the single rider or the people they get put with.

Last trip I rode Cosmic Rewind solo and was sent to join a family of 3, mom dad and teen.

I think they hoped by putting kid in row by themselves the CM wouldn’t sit a stranger next to them in a car built for 4. The CM did send me over though and I can tell they were disappointed as they switched son with Mom to sit next to me.

Might’ve been awkward except I love that ride!!! And a million dollars wouldn’t have been enough to remove the excited smile off my face. Me and Mom had a great time together 😁

WOW. She is SO lucky you were the SR. I’d have loudly asked a CM for Security due to verbally abusive behavior as my Rat slid in for offloadeding. Would anything happen besides a stern reminder that Disney says be nice? Probably not- but it would have scared the absolute living daylights out of her.

Kinda odd, this reminds me a touch of another thread on bad guest behavior. However on that one the poster was apoplectic at getting cussed at once and I said “sticks and stones” and most of us thought it dumb they called Security for that- but to get abused the entire duration of Remy? That’s a next level.

Reports of people having bad experiences SR on Remy are not super common and are usually along the lines of “they gave me a dirty look” when they do crop up. So, maybe this won’t scare you away from the ride after you give it a bit? Even if you had waited in the actual line you still would have been paired as a SR is the crazy part of that…

It really could've just been that the kid wanted to ride "on their own" or not with a parent. My youngest is like this (older 2 never even as adults they'll always choose to sit with someone they know as opposed to a stranger,) but my youngest has always asked to sit on own even after I tell her she'll probably have a stranger next to her. - Maybe the teen asked to but then the parent felt awkward whe they realized they'd have a stranger next to them and switched.

I really try to think the best of ppl. because I do believe that more times than not ppl. aren't trying to be jerks or "get away with anything."

I always think about how many awkward things I encounter and I would hope ppl. wouldn't think negatively about me, but instead give me grace and the benefit of the doubt.

I also think it really makes life easier and more pleasant when you can go in with that kind of attitude.

Yeah I did’t think they were trying to get away with anything. Just the ‘potentially awkward’ because their disappointment was pretty evident. They were 15’ from the main line, all smiles, then as I started walking over as directed their expressions changed, said some things quietly in Italian and swapped around. Not rude at all.

We often ride as a family of 3 too and I can understand that momentary disappointment. It’s nice getting the vehicle or row to your own family, especially with pics. And you never know exactly what you’re going to get. Most of the time we all have a good time but every once in a while get an uncomfortable experience with the other party.

Well at this I’m just LOLing. Your way or the highway eh? Bad news- the SR line isn’t going away. If Disney was unhappy they’d have killed it by now. Best you can hope for is improvements.
Huh? I was just saying it was easier to just wait one more rat. I’m not getting involved in having others follow Disneys policy

That was the trend I made

If they didn’t call security until she was getting off the ride she would probably be long gone before they showed up.
