Ok, this question is directed to those of you who know quite a bit about editing photos. Something I, unfortunately, don't know how to do. I have a ton of photos of my son (4yrs old) from WDW that I wanted to use to make a DVD of all of our Disney trips, there is a problem however. There is someone I want removed from those photos. Is there a way to do this? If anyone is willing to help or give advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Dana

It really depends on the photos.

But are you taking about cropping that person out of the photo(just think of it as cutting them out with sizzors). Or are you talking about cloning them out?

I am actually hoping to clone this person out in some way. I have seen MICKEY88 remove people and a garbage can from some of his photos, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I am usually not the type of person to remove someone from a photo, however this is kind of a necessity if I am going to use any of my pictures of my son's first 3 years at WDW to make this DVD.

Cloning is usually the only way. You copy an area nearby and "paste" it over what you want removed, usually bit by bit. The degree of difficulty varies greatly with each picture. Some are easy, some take forever.

If you could post an example I'm sure someone could try it for you to show how.

Make sure before you attempt any removal you make a duplicate copy of the original.
Cloning can be very easy, but takes some practice.

The ease of doing this rests entirely with what's in the background that was originally behind the person you want to remove.

You basically have to construct a new background using picture elements that already exist in your photo. If the missing background is all a solid color such as a wall or something, then it can be fairly easy. If it's outdoors for example, and has something behind the person that doesn't show anywhere else in your photo, then you have a problem. This would be an example where the person is standing next to a car. It would be basically impossible to remove the person and reconstruct the missing parts of the car and put them into the photo where the person was originally standing.

In this case you might have access to other photos with the car and try to grap portions of those photos. In any case, this would be a very difficult one to do.

hmmmm I must be losing my mind I don't remember doing that,

although I have done extensive work along those lines, I took a picture for some coworkers, and removed a whole crowd of people that were behind them, filled in the background with a wall, and no one has ever noticed....that was using PSP 9

it's easier with PSP X, they actually have a removal tool, you draw a circle or whatever shape around the object you want to remove, then click on the fill area and it automatically does the work...,,I'd be more than willing to attempt it for you if you'd like to email me one of the pics..

Your assuming the OP wants a wall in the back. The pictures may have complex background such as rides. In that case the trick is being able to clone.

I'm not assuming anything, I was just giving an example of a picture I've done.... the wall I stuck in, matched a side wall with chair rail and wallpaper.., not just a plain wall..

Ok, maybe it was someone else the removed the people, but I swear I saw a pic where you removed a trash can. Either way I would be happy to email you some of the pictures that I am talking about. It may take a while though, since they were from before I got my digital so I actually have to locate and scan the photos.

Thanks for the offer to help I will definately take you up on it.

can't guarantee anything on the pics without seeing them, but I love a challenge and will do my best...

Correction. "If you are assuming the OP wants a wall" ......sorry.

No I did it for one of TwoOldPoohs photos. They had a great picture of a WDW CM staring at the horse that pulls the trolley and the horse staring back at him. They loved the picture but not the trash can directly behind the horses head. I removed it by cloning and another person was correct; it depends on what is around/behind them. It was on the Theme Park forum.
