I have removed my post due to this being a rumor at this time. Thank you all for your input.

The post originated on the McClain Special Needs Advocacy facebook group and theirs is the ONLY reference to this I can find . They are same group holding the rally this weekend. Nothing on AOTS indicates this is the case. McClain has not provided ANY facts to back up this statement.

I call complete and utter lies. See the part where they talk about service dogs being disallowed? I think this woman is just stirring up trouble.

Absolutely this. Until it comes from Disney or other credible source this is nothing more then a rumor and publicity grab for the "rally."

This is good to know! Thanks for sharing. I will pass this on to the group!

I think it is possible that they are only telling one side of the story. When Disney changed the policy of allowing others into the clubs, it was because of an incident involving an "adult" child of one of the Autism of the Seas people and the sexual harassment of a teen girl. Apparently, the Autism person tried to excuse the incident because of the adult being mildly autistic and "not understanding that it was wrong."

Not sure if the same people but they did try to get a protest going for the launch f das in Disneyland but hey didn't get enough people. So maybe this is a way they figure they get more people to help protest.

I am surprised that they ever offered such assistance to autistic children. They did not have it when we cruised years ago on a 3 day Disney cruise. (about 15 years ago).

I tried to leave my Downs syndrome/autistic son in the child care, and the CMs looked a bit nervous and no one appeared trained. Before the cruise, I had been told by a DCL CM (a friend) that they could watch him in the child care. I ended up leaving him only once, for less than an hour. As a result, the cruise was only so-so for us, because of needing to watch my son 24/7. We never cruised again, and never will (now he is an autistic adult). My 3 other typical kids loved the cruise, of course.

actually, if you look at their website, this wasn't a service Disney provided, it was a service that you could pay for through this organization, by booking your travel through them. :)

Yeah, that incident was really frightening when told from the point of view of the harassed girl's parents, and it surprises me it took this long for them to ban Autism on the Seas.

DCL has no legal obligation to allow an outside agency to do anything on their ships especially a company which has caused problems for them in the past and has proven that their "counselors" are lacking in any kind of appropriate training. This company in my opinion has caused embarrassment to the autism community so it's a great thing that their "services" are not allowed. Anyone is free to bring a family member or nanny to watch their kids if they can't leave them in one of the youth centers. Other than that, the only things they provided actually served to segregate children with autism further by forming group activities that only included kids on the spectrum.

There's a thread entitled "security concerns" someplace that goes into detail about the problems they've caused on DCL.

This is just another company that exploits families with autistic children. I say good for Disney if this rumor is true.

The report referred to service dogs "in training." Wouldn't they still be allowed by law?

They absolutely would. Which is one way I know she's lying, and just making stuff up. :)
the federal law doesn't apply to training dogs but state laws do. I believe Florida and ca both require training dog access but I wouldn't swear to it.

Both CA and FL do allow it under their laws. End result is the same, she's just making stuff up to get people riled up and promote her agenda.

I took the liberty of sending a message to this group this morning (Autism on the Seas.) This is the reply that I just received (through facebook)
Autism on the Seas
Hi Michelle, We have cruises planned with Disney into next year, including one that departs this weekend. We have no intentions on not doing future cruises with Disney at this time.

So, that seems to be the final and official word. She's a lying sack of lies. ;)
