I was just sitting here reading the boards and thinking about the days before we bought into DVC. We made a "cash" trip to OKW and I can remember being rather...shall I say, envious...of the people we heard, obviously members, having conversations about making multiple trips per year to DVC/WDW. I hate to admit, I was kind of jealous and thought that those people must be rich in order to be able to do that. Wow! And here we are, a few years later, about to make our first trip (Jan '06) as DVC members. There are still so many things I'd LIKE to do to fix up our house, etc., that may never get done, but when it all comes down to it, I wouldn't trade my DVC for any of that stuff. There are many days that I think the only thing that gets me through my work days are daydreams of WDW and my lunch hour visits to the DIS. Thanks, you guys, for being my online support group; I don't know if I could make it through the week without ya. (Sorry for the rambling, I guess it's getting late and I should go to bed!) Thanks for being here!

we (mother and I ) took the tour in 92 - I want to see the resort and I though like you I couldn't afford it. Guess what I could!!!

so I brought then - but got talked out of it my relatives and friends. the next year after spending a fortune on rooms for my relatives - I rebrought and nothing will ever make me give it up again.

I couldn't agree more! I was having a bad week a few weeks ago and my boss gave me a little placard of Cinderella's Castle to put on top of my computer that she'd picked up at McDonald's! It worked like a tonic to brighten up my week!

We will have visited WDW three times before this year is out! How great is that! DVC is the best! Have a wonderful time!!

My moment of being envious happened when we were staying at WL, my absolute favorite place to stay. We were waiting for a bus and looked up and we saw the building that was to be the VWL being built. Tom doesn't like me to say that we "can't" afford something, but that's the way I felt.

It truly was my mom's 85th Birthday Party plans that made us look into DVC and deciding to buy. She wanted her party at WDW, I wanted to do something special for her. She had been very generous to us in the years of our move to Ohio, my being without a full time position with 2 sons in college.
We have grandchildren now, and we hope they can come someday with us.

Mom recently got annoyed with me, when I go to Cape May, it's a long car trip for me (11 hours), and when I'm there I like to "chill out" at home there. Mom complained "You never take me anywhere." Then she quickly ammended, "Except to WDW!" and she smiled, she "knew" when she went too far! Right now, we have 2 ressies for her coming up, in December and for Mother's day.

I do remember the pre DVC trips fondly, but DVC is the present and future, for us, and I am thankful.

We first looked into DVC about 4 years ago when they were selling VWL @ $73 per point but just couldn't make it work at the time.

We've been able to call SSR home since 94 & I can't even begin to express how happy I was the day I received my blue card.

Being part of DVC is a true source of happiness for me.

We have our contract for SSR on the table now. We've been going back and forth for 2 wks as to whether or not to buy in, could we afford it, is it worth it, etc. Last night I got out the info from '96 we used to book our first trip to WDW: the rack rate at WL for a std room in Sept. was only $80. Today I believe rates start at $199. I think that's what pushed us over the edge. If prices have gone up over $100 in the past 10 yrs, think what they'll do in the next 10 yrs. So we're calling our Guide to have another contract written up so we can buy more pts than we originally requested. Woo-hoo!

The year we bought we thought we were cool 'cause we were staying on property at ASMR! We purchased OKW, sight unseen.

When we went to OKW on our points - we were in awe!

That was 8 contracts ago and we are still happy about our purchases!
