Remembering extinct foods

It was lipton's cup o soup-had different flavors.Figurines-diet bars.Crumbles cereal.Shake a puddin.Mauna Loa Guava drink.Bun candy bars. Coke made with real sugar.Actual TV dinners with the three courses.Raisin biscuit bars.

I also remember space bars, Ice Cubes, Jellow 1-2-3, toaster pizzas, and many more of the already mentioned.

For those in Michigan-Towne Club pop. You would go to the Towne Club store and fill a plastic crate with 24 bottles of pop-some weird flavors, for about $2.00. Most of it was awful, but a lot of fun to pick out the flavors.

Rock-n-Rye pop. Maybe they still make it?

Faygo still makes Rock-n-Rye. Loved it as a kid, not so much now that I am over 50. :confused3

I can still find Bun bars - Meijer carries the Vanilla and other places carry the Maple.

ok I have been thru 3 pages but before I go run an errand. I would like to add

O'Grady Augrian(sp?) Potato Chips, Rainbow & Sunshine punch Kool-aid, 123 Jello-o, Jell-o pops but not the pudding kind. And Elf Grape Pop.

Quisp cereal
Dunkeroos
Koala Yummies
Rice Krispies that were frosted AND had marshmallows! Yum!

All of these plus...

Does anyone remember the Blow Pop Pieces? They were little rectangle pillow shaped things?

OR...Lifesavers Holes? (my mom's best friends dad was a manager at a Lifesavers factory and always brought me BOXES)

We had this cereal called Hidden Treasureshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidden_Treasures_(cereal)

Pizza Toaster Strudels? (I think that was the brand)

Koala Yummies
Dunkaroos
Mountain Berry Koolaid (the best ever)
Bacon and Sour Cream Ruffle Chips (my uncle and I used to fit over these at my Grandma's)
The Old Cookie Crisp (It does not taste the same anymore)
Disney Character Popsicles (I loved biting off the ears)

*Koolaide slushies in my Slush Mug

Oh my gosh, I LOVED my slush mug!! I was beginning to think that it was a figment of my imagination because I've asked other people if they had one growing up and they look at me like I'm crazy.

Being the good southern girl that I am, I used to fill mine with sweet tea. YUMM!!!

Just recently, several products have been discontinued that we used all the time and I am still annoyed that I can't get them anymore. I miss Kraft Roasted Garlic flavor BBQ sauce, and Lipton Garlic and Herb dry soup/seasoning packets. The soup was a key ingredient in my favorite recipe for roast beef in the crockpot, and also in one of my favorite recipes for cooking boneless chicken breasts. :sad2: My cooking repetoire took a big hit when that soup mix went away.

I also can't get lemonade chewing gum anymore. I can't remember who made it, but it was my favorite, and its been several years since I have seen it in the Northwest. :sad1:

Finally, I miss Dr. Pepper with real sugar. I live too far from Dublin to get the real stuff, and no one is distributing the "Heritage" (throwback) Dr. Pepper in my state.

Celentano frozen pizza in a square aluminum tray -- This may have been a regional item. It was the most delicious frozen pizza ever made! I wish they'd bring back the original recipe. They changed the baking vessel into a cardboard tray in the early '80s. It wasn't a change for the better, and then they stopped selling it altogether.

I used to love this! And the old TV dinners in an aluminum tray.

How about Marathon candy bars? They were made by Cadbury - chocolate covered caramel candy bars...yum :cloud9:

The Curly Wurleys are a good substitution.

I still miss the Royal Crown Sour Cherry candies.

That was my mother's specialty - Hungry Man TV Dinners. Actually, it was the only thing she knew how to cook. I guess dangerously high levels of sodium were not frowned upon back then. Or maybe, she just didn't love me.

Thanks, I'll look out for them.:thumbsup2

I'm trying to lose the ten pounds I put on over the holidays. So naturally I'm having some pretty intense food fantasies(don't ask). I was thinking back to some of my favorite comfort foods that are no more.

Does anyone remember Hostess Chocodiles? I loved them. They were like Twinkies, but with a hard chocolate shell. I really miss them. Apparently, they are only sold on the west coast:confused3. What's that all about?

A cereal I miss is Smurf Berry Crunch. Next to Crunchberries, this was my favorite. Smurf Berry Crunch went extinct around the same time that Saturday morning cartoons went extinct. How sad:sad1:.

Anyone else have happy memories of foods that no longer exist?

They do still sell chocodiles here so next time you want to come to Disneyland here then go to the 7-11 or something and stock up.

I also see Cadbury Eggs being sold at the 7-11 I am near but only during holidays, I can't find my pop rox or Suzy-Q's.

Cute thread!

Anyone remember Funny Face Drink Mix? It was a Kool-Aid rip off in flavors like Choo Choo Cherry, Injun Orange, Goofy Grape & "With it" Watermelon. With enough proof of purchases, you could even order mugs that resembled the faces of the characters on the packets!

I'm going to Northern California over Spring Break. I will be bringing an empty carry on bag that will be filled with a certain Hostess delicacy on my flight home. Hopefully several pounds of Chocodiles won't raise a red flag and get me placed on a watch list.
