Remembering extinct foods

For a PP how did you make your own pudding pops??? Those were the best thing EVER :worship:

. And also these ice cream-flavored lollipops. Can't remember what they were called either.

Those are still made. They are called Chupa Chups.

Anyone remember Mug O Lunch from the 70s? I absolutely loved the mac and cheese flavor.

Tab was a staple in my fridge growing up. My mother was addicted to it until Diet Coke came out :rotfl2:

My neighbor still drinks this stuff on a daily basis. She cannot live without it. She says it's like her "coffee". LOL

My faves from back in the day were....

Crocodiles
Hostess pudding cakes (yellow cupcake with the traditional chocolate icing on top but filled with chocolate pudding) I WANT THOSE BACK
Kool-Aid's "mountain berry punch" THE BEST KOOL AID EVER!!!
Kaboom cereal

Celentano frozen pizza in a square aluminum tray -- This may have been a regional item. It was the most delicious frozen pizza ever made! I wish they'd bring back the original recipe. They changed the baking vessel into a cardboard tray in the early '80s. It wasn't a change for the better, and then they stopped selling it altogether.

I LOVED that pizza! My grandparents used to make it when we came over for lunch.

Fresca was popular back in that day. You can still find it, though, so it's not extinct. Yet.

I use to LOVE Fresca but I thought, as you mentioned, it may still be around.

Right now I could go for a cold Fresca and a cadburry egg...YYUUMMMYYYY

That is my kids' absolute favorite soda. No problem finding it here!

I miss Mello Yello here in the Northeast. I know it's still sold in the South, because when we drive to WDW I can find it in rest area's and gas stations! I stocked up the cooler on the way back last year so I'd have some for home. Have to share it with my son though - he loves it too!

Kaboom cereal

We still have Kaboom cereal here in North Carolina. I just saw it in the grocery store last week! Can't say that I've ever tried it though. I may have to get some of it now!

I also loooooooooved Jello pudding pops! I can still hear Bill Cosby doing the commercial.

And, last but not least, my mom was a total TAB addict, too. That was some nasty stuff! Fresca (which is also still available here) is much better!

mug-o-lunch. It was basically easy mac, but I remember it tasted soooooo good and was such a treat.

You MUST try Sun Drop (or my fave, Diet Sun Drop). It is Mello Yello-like (I think it is what MY was modeled after). It is sooooooo good!

oh, and I forgot to add that there was literally nothing better than eating my mug-o-lunch on a Saturday afternoon while watching "Land of the Lost."

Space Sticks -- They were a strange food, and what were they supposed to be anyway? A breakfast item? Snack? Maybe the astronauts knew.

Hunt's Skillet Dinners -- Growing up in the 60s and 70s, I went home for lunch, along with my younger sister and brother. My mom believed in feeding you a hot meal, so she's make these with a pound of ground beef. It was Hunt's version of Hamburger Helper and came in different flavors. The lasagna had hunks of "ricotta" cheese on top that was made from adding water to a cheese mix that came in the box. They had a Western dinner that was basically chili with cornbread dumplings. It was good stuff!

I'll try to think of more. The 60s and 70s were an interesting period for processed food.

OMG Space Sticks they were the precursor to energy bars and probably even worse nutritionally.

Ben & Jerry's Chocolate PB Cookie Dough Ice Cream

It is now in it's flavor graveyard :sad1:

I now eat Half-Baked.

Betty Crocker pudding cake and if you are really old(like 50) Pie o My it was like a pudding cake also.

I used to love the dry seasoning mix you added into tuna for sandwiches. They were so good!

I used to love Bit-O-Honey Candy---not sure if its still around...

Jello pudding pops have come back (or at least as of a year or two ago I was seeing them at the store again). But sadly, the formula is slighly different and they just aren't as good!

The food I remember was this strange powdered soup in a packet. It was cream of chicken soup (lipton?) in an individual serve packet. There were tiny hard croutons right in the powder and they sort of floated to the top when you mixed it with hot water. Sounds gross, but I loved that stuff.

I also remember these granola bars that had this thick kind of waxy substance in them... hard to describe. I think it was pure coconut oil/fat :scared1: No wonder they don't make them any more!

Bundt cake mixes, with the pudding filling
Jell-o Whip 'n Chill
Charms Sweet & Sour suckers

O.....M.....G..... I am sobbing right now for this ice cream. THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They really NEED to bring it back.

Back in '94 I had a miscarriage and when my friend (who lived on the other side of the state---2 1/2 hrs away) called and told me she was coming up to be with me, asked if she could get me anything. I told her a pint of Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Ice Cream from Ben & Jerry's. Well, 3 hours later, she came through the door with FIVE pints of it. I told her to go get 2 spoons and we would have a total ice cream fest. But she insisted that they were all for me. Gave me some really necessary comfort during that hard time. Thanks Mandy!!!

Does anyone else remember Coco Wheats? It was like chocolate cream of wheat. I would POUR the sugar on that stuff. Yummy!

I never did the ****erry etc. cereals; my Cap'n Crunch is still around.

I also loved those Hostess fried pies - chocolate, of course.
