Does anyone have a remedy for chapped lips that they swear by?? I have had chapped lips for a couple of weeks now, and no matter how many different chapsticks I try, I can't seem to get them back on track.

Help me!!:worship:

Aquaphor. It is like vaseline. It isn't specifically for lips but it works wonders for my kid.

I swear by a good lip gloss. Chapstick makes my lips feel more waxy than anything.

Have you tried the lip balms from the health food stores? The real natural stuff? I could never get any regular chapstick to work because of all the harsh chemicals and ingredients in them. Burt's Bees is wonderful and works great for me and I get really chapped lips without it. I like the Burt's Bee's Honey Lip Balm. It can be found in most regular grocery stores and Walgreen carries it.

Chapstick is useless for me - it's like rubbing wax on my lips. When my lips are really chapped I will take a warm washcloth a few times a day and lightly try to scrub the dead skin off then grease my lips rubbing it in well with vaseline.

I third Carmex. I used to be a Blistex girl but then one day at work I was out of Blistex and my lips were so chapped they were cracking/bleeding. A coworker offered me some Carmex and I've used it ever since.

chapstick is terrible! I use Blistex or Burt's Bees. The tingly feeling makes me feel like it's really working! I know, I'm a dork.....:rolleyes1

I swear by Carmex! Oh and keep hydrated.

Not a remedy, but are you a tongue thruster by any chance? (When you swallow do you push your tongue against your front teeth instead of curling it up against the roof of your month?)

I ask because I am one (it's apparently associated with childhood asthma or something) and usually people who tongue thrust also unconsciously lick their lips a lot right after they swallow. I do it all the time apparently--GF likes to tease me about it.

And my lips are ALWAYS chapped, even in the middle of summer when it's hot and humid out.

Load up the lips with vaseline at night, they'll be like new the next morning.

I'm a thruster. My lips are always chapped too.

I found what really helps is to stop licking your lips, biting on them, and using the wash clothing technique someone else mentioned. Then I use either Burt's Bees or Vaseline to make them a little more soft.

Good luck OP!! Chapped lips suck.

I can't say enough good things about AQUAPHOR. It is a miracle cure for chapped lips. You will probably have to look for it in the lotion section (not near the chapsticks) of the drug store. If you can't find it, I am sure the pharmacist will be able to tell you exactly where it is.

When my kids get chapped lips, I coat them with Aquaphor at bedtime and by the morning they are almost back to normal. Be careful, though, because it will stain fabrics.

Also, make sure you are drinking enough water, dehydration leads to chapped lips, and you can't afford to be dehydrated while pregnant.

Sometimes when my lips are really chapped I rub olive oil on them. It seems to help a lot.

I use something called lip butter. I do not like traditional chapsticks or the medicated stuff. I don't think they actually work well. Vaseline is okay but I like the lip butter better.

Look at the ingredients of whatever you choose to use. If it has menthol, or camphor in it, it will dry your lips. Anything with alcohol in it will too.

I don't like petroleum products (vaseline) given the chemical base, so try to stick with natural things as much as possible.

The olive oil idea sounds quite good, actually!

Check Tom's of Maine and Burt's for options. There are others too. Look in any good natural/healthfood shop.

My lips were terrible for the past couple of weeks. So chapped they bled. I have always had that problem. I have tried EVERYTHING mentioned here plus...

I bought this Blistex lip infusion soothing splash medicated ball rolly thing and it has worked wonders. It was only $1.87 at xxxmart so you might give it a try.

Here is the webpage for it. http://www.blistex.com/Moisture Infusion.htm
