Relentless Forward Motion (a.k.a. Running towards 40)

Thanks for being you...setting a great example and encouraging all of us along our own paths.

Ditto! and YOU always put a smile on my face! :)

Great week there!!! I seriously don't know how you do so much pilates!!! My abs are just sore thinking about it!!! lol!!!

Did you try out your new running skirt yet? I can't wait for the day I finally wear one. They are so cute!

Ok--I'm off to Scott's journal now for a margarita. What a morning already!

Hope you have a great day!!!
Stacie

Great job on last week's workouts, Amy!:cheer2: Keep up the good work!!

Hope you have a great Monday!

Hi Amy

In looking at your plan for the week, I think it's obvious that you are just not working out enough.

:rotfl:

PLEASE be careful! 4 days of runs, spinning, trainering, teaching, pilates, yoga, fusion, driving, spilling coffee, hill repeats, speed work, girl scout leading, cooking, cleaning, hauling kids around, chiropractoring, walking the dog (oops that's me), showering, eating, napping, sleeping, rolling your feet on that ball....whew....are you sure there are 24 hours in your days? You MUST be on some different schedule...I just don't know how you do it.

But...um...have a good week!! :goodvibes:

"Trainering?" :rotfl: I love it - NEW WORD!!! I plan to use it in a sentence today just to see if I can!

Seriously, Amy - please don't overdo it. You pack so much into your days, you amaze me. Hope you have a good one!

Susan

Hi Amy!

WWAAAASSSSUUUUUPPPP????

Sorry, just felt like doing that.

:yay:

 Hi guys!!!

Sooo...been a busy few days for me. Weekend workouts went pretty good, and although I'm dealing with some minor hip pain/shoulder pain, overall I'm feeling pretty good and ready to kick the workouts up a notch this week. :thumbsup2

Monday was a "rest" day...but teaching 3 classes leads to about 90 minutes of overall pilates exercise for me. I took it easy on the shoulder...but did a lot of ab work. Today I taught an early am class and an evening class...probably no more than 60 minutes of total pilates (maybe less). In addition I did my 3 mile run in about 30 minutes (against the wind..phew it was brutal). It's nowhere near where I want my 5K pace to be...but under the conditions and working with little to no rest...I'm happy with this pace on a tough day.

Since training for the Goofy has been over I honestly feel like i've been a MAJOR slacker in my running mileage. I know that it's good for me to back off the miles for a bit...but truly it is hard to run a 3 miler and feel satisfied. Although (not so) secretly I *LOVE* having these shorter runs which are so manageable and don't feel so difficult for me. Disclaimer: For those just getting back into running and those struggling as beginner runners...please don't read to much into this. 3 Miles is STILL a huge deal. I really remember what it was like to struggle thru a run. And even now...there are days when each mile is a battle. Hang tough...keep putting the steps in!

Tomorrow is my big XT day (Yay!!!)....hour spinning and hour mat pilates (that I'm not teaching). For some reason I really look forward to this workout. AND....it's my day off from teaching so I get to focus on my own workouts! :cool1: AND...I'm going to wear my cycling shoes (which are WAY underused for their exorbinant price). Let's see if it helps me look like I know what I'm doing in this class LOL! NOT!

Thanks guys for stopping by my journal. :sunny:

Amy!!! Hi! You are such a go-getter!!!

MAJOR slacker!!! What??? :scared1: Are you crazy??? :crazy2: You knew that was coming right... :goodvibes Nope, you are just a plain 'ol Slacker, not a Major one...yet! You are doing so well! I'm glad to see you be able to take a little break from so much mileage. It is good for you body. Even your rest days are not really rest days. geez... 90 minutes of pilates??? Good Grief! My rest days consist of me sitting in front of the TV! :rotfl: When you actually stop to rest...then we'll call you a MAJOR slacker! :lmao:

I sit here in awe of you...even if you are slacker! :goodvibes

I hope you really enjoy your spinning class today! Put those shoes to work!

You are such and inspiration. You have such drive and spirit!

Have a great day!
Stacie

Amy, your name and the word "slacker" do not even belong in the same sentence. There is NO WAY that can EVER be applied to you - you are always in motion, doing SOME kind of workout practically every single day. So don't feel like you're goofing off - YOU'RE NOT!!!

Thanks for the encouragement in my journal, Ames - I really appreciate it. Have a good day!

Hi Amy,

I understand why you would think that 3 miles is slacking off. Hey, you just finished the Goofy. I understand, how it may not be satisfying. No yelling or lecturing from me. That said, you do realize that you kick *** everyday, everyday, right. You pack more into your day than my neighbor who is on crystal meth, and you get your high from PILATES!!!! You amaze me.

So slacker, try to easy up on yourself.

Beth

Hey Slacker!

(you are sooooo NOT a slacker by the way)

How are those hills treating you today? Just reminds me of a certain conversation we had two years ago regarding giving those stupid hills the finger...or was that the hill giving us the finger?...or wait, maybe it was you just talking to the hill...weren't you making friends with hills or something?...maybe i don't remember so well :goodvibes: ;)

Anyway...here is a Jack Handy quote for you :)

One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. "Oh, no," I said. "Disneyland burned down." He cried and cried, but I think that deep down, he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.

Have a good day!

:lmao: OMG..jack handy! TOO FUNNY Scott...that makes up for the disturbing, yet hilarious, Chris Gaines photos I stuck in your journal!!!!

And thank you for asking about the Hill Repeats today! :goodvibes

Sooo...the hills workout actually went pretty well. If I trust my Garmin (which sometimes I don't) the workout went something like this:

*Mile Warm-Up: 9:45 mpm
*.10 Mile Hill sprint: 49 seconds (walk back down the hill to recover)
*.10 Mile Hill sprint: 46 seconds (walk back down the hill to recover)
*.10 Mile Hill sprint: 46 seconds (walk back down the hill to recover)
*Mile Cool Down: 8:01!!! :scared1: DID NOT mean to run that fast. Not sure how that happened. :confused3

I really enjoyed this workout! :thumbsup2 I think, like with the speed workouts, that I really take to the different types of workouts. Keeps it interesting for me and makes me "forget" that I'm running since I'm mixing it up so much. Next time out with the Hills I'll try to do 4 and continue to build up to 6 repeats. Total workout today: 2.6 miles :)

Have a great day guys!!! :sunny:

Amy...That is FANTASTIC! 8:01!!! I am so proud of you! You must be too! Great workout there girl!!! :thumbsup2

Hope you have a great weekend!
Stacie

Hey Amy! Sending you my 40 degree weather for your run today! :beach:

Hope it goes well!
Stacie

Hello :)

Thanks again to everyone for the continued support here. It means so much to me!!! :goodvibes

Let me update my week....

Monday: 90 minutes total Pilates (taught 3 classes...did quite a bit)
Tuesday: 3 Mile run; 60 minutes of Pilates (taught 2 classes)
Wednesday: 60 minute spin class; 60 minute Pilates class
Thursday: 2.6 mile run (Hill Repeats); 60 minutes Fusion Flow
Friday: snow day!!! 8 miles on the bike trainer; 3.3 miles on the ski machine; 30 minutes pilates. Was supposed to be a run!!!
Saturday: basically a rest day....taught one pilates class
Sunday: 6 Mile Run...attempted yoga but couldn't squeeze it in due to the kids

Totals:
Run: 11.6 miles (shy miles because of the snow...couldn't leave the house)
Cardio XT (cycling/ski machine): 2 Hours (23.3 miles)
Pilates/Yoga: 5 Hours Pilates/Yoga

The weather played havoc with my runs this week...but I managed to substitute bike/ski machine to keep myself active :). I think this will be another good week of workouts for me...should get all my miles in the books if the weather cooperates. :thumbsup2

My run today went pretty well all things considered! The temps were really nice in the mid 30s....and the sun was shining (imagine that!!!). I had to stick to my neighborhood route which is pretty hilly...nothing extreme..but an overall 200 ft. elevation change over .75 mile. And since I ran the loop twice...I hit it twice. There are also several smaller, steeper hills that kick my butt too! I'm proud to say I ran the whole deal...felt strong on the hills....and finished with a respectable 55:57 (9:20 pace approx). Not bad for running the hills!!!

I have another busy week on the horizon!! But I'm feeling pretty good :).

Thanks guys!!!

Hi Amy

I was JUST thinking about you and BAM..you posted!! Imagine that :goodvibes:

I'm very proud of you for incorporating the speed workouts and hills into your running routine! You've taken them on with optimism and have succeeded tremendously! And....dare I say it....I do believe you are getting much faster :) Of course, I'm happy with any pace that we run together, but knowing that you want to PR a lot of events this year...I'm just really glad to see everything working out so well for you

I hope that storm was the last big one for the season...you've been dealt a crappy hand with the weather this year and it's time to see those temps rise a bit and give you some nice running weather to train in. Sending good weather karma your way *bling!*

Have a great week and good luck with all of your classes, cross trainings and runs...so awesome to see things going so well for you :)

Your workout week looks awesome! I'm so glad you were able to get out for your run yesterday! The weather has been crazy this year! ugh! I am so happy to hear all is going well!

You rock! Keep it up chick!
Stacie

Hi Amy,

Great training this week. Congrats on the pace considering the hills. I hope the weather cooperates for you. We are expecting 6 more inches of snow by tomorrow evening.

I love the fact that you consider a day that you do Pilates a rest day. It kicks my bckside. (But I love it.)

Have a good one,
Beth

All I did was read your journal, and I'm freakin exhasted. :faint:

That hill workout sounds awesome! We don't have BFH's like that 'round here (thank God :rotfl: )

You're really getting to be a McSpeedy lady. :thumbsup2 I'm continually inspired by you.

You are amazing, Amy! That is a jam packed workout schedule from last week. You are doing a great job! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Hope you have a great week!:goodvibes
