Relaxation, Disney Style, PTR. ~*TRIP REPORT HAS STARTED! 9/18 Pg. 155*~

you know I don't remember the online check-in form. I just tried to pull it up in my email and it won't link anymore. Oh wait, I just read my email that was my check-in confimation and it is in our online check-in details. Was online check in kinda new then? I can't remember when they started. The tip before that I know we faxed our preferences in to the hotel itself. Hmmmm. :confused3

Can't wait to see those pics!
Me too!

LL,
Good luck at school today!! I know you are going to be awesome! The trip countdown is so cute! What a neat idea. Oh, and I love Father of the Bride (1 and 2). They are great movies!!
Thanks. I'm addicted to the Father of the Bride movies. I watch them so often that Marc can quote them now too. :rotfl:

LL, I hope you have a great first day of school. :goodvibes
Thank you! I'm posting from school now....it's interesting. More on that tomorrow.

Hmmm. Online check in fairly new. I don't know. I have to figure out how the best way to request a Mansion room is going to be.

That actually makes me feel better that I am not the only one.

Hope your night at class is going along swimmingly!
It's going, that is for sure. I'll fill you in on the details tomorrow.

Hmmm...sounds like your first night at school will be interesting to hear all about!!! I can't wait to hear all the details!!! Be safe on your drive home!

Thanks for the EE fastpass info. Right now we are booked for lunch at Yak N' Yeti but I REALLY like your idea on taking a bus to AKL for dinner. Even just quick service because don't they sell zebra domes there too? I'd really like to try those and check out AKL. Plus taking a bus to Downtown Disney and then the boat to POR would work out perfectly. I would have NEVER thought about that. So thanks again!

Glad to throw my two cents in!

Oh, and you are not a dork about what to wear on the first day... I bet there isn't a teacher on the DIS who doesnt have the same dork-factor! Planning our "back to school" outfit!!!! And, well, if that isn't the case, I will be that dork with you!!! :rotfl: cuz I do the same thing!

Hope your classes go well! Good luck!

It was interesting to say the least...

Glad to throw my two cents in!

Yes, please do throw in your two cents whenever needed. :rotfl2:

Glad I'm not the only one who has the dork factor in picking out an outfit to wear for the 1st day of school. :thumbsup2

So I finished my first night of class. It went okay. A lot of things were unexpected but I don't think it was the School's fault really. I think it was more of the Admission counselor that I had. Nothing is wrong with the program or my expectations of that, it just wasn't what I expected and I don't know if it is the way I interpreted it or if it's that it wasn't conveyed to me properly...??

Who knows. I'm moving on. It's 14 months. I can do it.

I'm going to bed with Disney thoughts dancing in my head....

Free Dining.....

or

Room Only Discount...

??????

I have a pro/con list for each scenario but I need to do more calculations. Which can't be done when I'm propping my eyeballs open with toothpicks.

Do you think you know what my pros/cons are for each??

Discuss amongst yourselves. ;)

I think we need to start a countdown for when you graduate from this program! I bet those 14 months are going to FLY right by! I mean can you believe that it is May already???

Okay let's see...Pro for Room only Discount...you don't have to pay it off at the 45 day mark, you can pay when you arrive!

Pro for Free dining, don't have to worry about budgeting for food, it is all taken care of except tips and that is always nice. Also a package means you pretty much know exactly how much you'll be spending!

Well, Jen summed that up very nicely! :goodvibes

Glad you got the first day of school under your belt... good luck with your studies!

Kathy

So sorry it wasn't exactly what you thought it might be!! Dang! That happened to me in a Human Geography class once. I thought I'd be learning where each country was and what the culture was like in each one. Nope. It was all about why they developed their certain infrastructure, blah, blah, blah. I hated it! But 14 months isn't long, and I admire your determination to stick it out!! :thumbsup2

I like room only- it tends to come out WAY cheaper for our family who are light eaters and we are MAJOR tightwads. :lmao:

Hi Leslie,

I just found your new PTR! How wonderful that you are getting your trip with Mark so soon! And congratulations to both of you for your weight loss!! :cool1:

I think room discount might work out better for you. You will have more flexibility with your dining which might be a bonus for you. But in the end you would have to do the math on it...

Last year, when Charles and I went down to the World by ourselves, the room only discount and free dining ended up being about the same. The deciding factor for us was the fact that we knew we would want to do the majority of our eating at the Food and Wine Festival and not necessarily do table service meals. I guess one thing to consider is whether you want to be tied into the entree/dessert rules of the table service restaurants. Would there be times that you want to eat an appetizer instead? While it is so nice to not have to budget for meals, if you won't get the full benefit of free dining, you may want to opt for the room-only discount.

Yay for getting through the first day of classes!

I'm not sure about the savings difference between free dining and the room only discount. If the savings is the same, I'd probably go with free dining. I just love having everything prepaid.

You about nailed it on the head. :rotfl:

Thank you!

All this time I was wondering if you had a smelly lunch box.....
It was smelly. I washed it last night.

No, 14 months isn't long. I can do it.

I like the flexibility of picking what to eat. With the smaller amounts that we eat, I love ordering apps and dessert and maybe sometimes splitting an entree.

Hey! :goodvibes I really am drawn to the flexibility of picking and choosing what we want to eat instead of being "stuck" with an entree and dessert. Usually I'm far more drawn to appetizers anyways.

While I love the idea of free food, I like the idea of being able to order whatever I want. Especially if that means I have Ghiradelli for dinner. :rotfl:

Marc prefers to have things prepaid, I like flexibility so we have to figure out what we want to do.

Glad to hear it went well, even if it was different than expected. :goodvibes

Hey LL,

Trying to catch up on my subscriptions!

sounds like you have some fun thoughts for your trip! I love the look of POR so I'm excited to hear how you like it.

My 2-cents for the room question...I think generally free dining is the better deal for families, I'm not sure the price difference will be a big difference. Like others have said, I think you need to decide if the DDP will be the way you want to eat. If you would rather have appetizers than dessert, don't want to be tied to a TS each day or would rather do a lot of eating at F&W, then a room-only discount is probaly the better choice. It will just mean that you need to consider food in your planning budget.

When I did online check-in, I don't remember seeing a place for specific room requests, I think you are best noting it now on your ressie then sending a FAX a week before you arrive.

LL,
I thought about you last night. I'm sorry it isn't what you thought, but you are on your way, now! Like everyone said, 14 months isn't too long!! You'll be a great Medicial Assistant, too! :thumbsup2

What about putting your food budget on a Disney gift card? Didn't you do just that for your last trip with Jen? In that way it is already paid for and if you manage to use less you have some souvenir money left over. :goodvibes
