That’s the added AKV value, if you can get it. The point chart isn’t bad overall.
It's reallly nice to snag here and there but not worth buying a contract for on its own for the studios anyways just because they're so hard to book. The 1BR values on the other hand I think are going to be REALLY interesting after they refurbed. I'm looking 7 months out from now in February and a 1BR value costs the same as a standard VGF studio and right in between a RIV standard and preferred view. I know location is important but getting the animals, theming and dining with the murphy bed, kitchen and laundry for the same price as a studio in some other resorts is going to be really exciting.

Yes, I don’t anticipate getting value more than once in a blue moon. But for me the savanna rooms are more interesting anyway.

I also can’t wait to see what happens after a refurb! I don’t mind taking a bus if I have great dining, animals, theming, and sweet pools on site. For comparison, SSR’s rooms look nice to me but the overall property just seems…dull. Like it could be a timeshare literally anywhere. And I don’t like shopping. Old Key West could be interesting but I have heard mixed reviews and it feels like there aren’t many dining options nearby unless you go to Disney Springs. For a non walkable resort, AKV has a lot going for it. Part of my goal is some resort only stays (because leaving the Midwest for at least a week or two every winter during the coldest weeks is a big priority for me) and I think AKV could be great for those.

Taken from our value studio. I think only like 2/18 actually have a parking lot view. The size difference between a normal studio and a value studio isn’t even noticable to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wouldn’t walk away over $3pp….
maybe you wouldn't, but maybe that $3 stretches that perspective buyer more than they are willing to go...

I actually think this is a common mistake sellers make when doing counter offers - they say "it's only $3" or some such amount, and I think many perspective buyers say "no thank you".

We did stand our ground but then ended up caving after we spent another day talking it over due to them paying the MF. But we didn’t want to make a spur of the moment decision that went over our budget.

I get it… but in the end they agreed with my initial assessment.

I think it’s easy to get caught up in the ppp… when over the long run the buy in is dwarfed by the dues and $3pp over the life of the contract is a rounding error….

You’re in good company. We did the same thing where we were $5 apart on a VGC contract in the UY we wanted for nearly the exact number of points we wanted. I was told the broker we were walking and then after 48 hours jumped on it today.

It feels better to have time to really think it over. Congrats!!

Finding that "right" contract is definitely worth the extra couple of dollars per point. Especially if it avoids an additional use year.

Still say AKV are the best SAP+ points you can get right now

Debatable, a small contract to have 11 month priority if you want to stay in a value room makes sense and carries much less dues. I don’t think its financially the best option for SAP+ when points get into the triple digits though.
OK yeah lots of caveats in that statement for sure. First I really do look at it specifically from a WDW centric view and I often disregard the non Orlando park properties. And yes I also say that with the idea of staying at values and Club Levels as well. Just personally from my AK contract I've "slept around" at the top 4 most expensive resorts at WDW and managed to get value and club level rooms. I guess my experience dictates my "fanboy" status of AKV points...not saying the resort is the best...but I adore my points lol. And seeing some contracts go for SSR prices, I personally would rather have my AK booking window for close to the same price. On a modest size contract the slightly higher MF doesn't move the needle to the negative very much at all.

Yeahhh AKV was definitely a buy where we love kind of deal. The dues make it not the best option. I did it because I like the idea of being able to say we have a resort for every park at WDW. CCV/BLT are still the SAP+ kings currently buttt AKV club level is pretty sweet. I threw around the idea of selling our AKV points eventually to buy more Poly or another resort down the line and also consolidate use years but my partner wasn't having it because she loves that I can grab club level rooms with some regularity 😂

Not accounting for MF increases and both contracts being 150pts @ $95pp. AKV is $8175 more over the life of the contract. On a cost per year basis I can the see the benefit of owning AKV especially if you love the resort. I do think there is much more to love there than SSR, although Ive never been to SSR.

100% agreed on the comparison to SSR, I like SSR a lot but the reason why I won't buy there is because it really provides no benefit with it's home resort priority. There's only a finite number of points I can buy and pay dues for with my salary and if the buy in is relatively the same I'll take an AKV or AUL-s over SSR. I suppose if I couldn't plan my trips at all 7+ months out then maybe I'd consider it but we've been able to base our trips around when we snag those club/value rooms 7-11 months out and I don't think I would've gotten them without owning there. I also wouldn't have been able to book a full week at Aulani in the hotel room category during a popular season without owning there which IMO trumps the benefit in dues but to each their own. Life's too short to not be able to book what you actually want.
