Rejected Offers Thread

It’s hard to beat AUL-S for SAP, in my opinion. And $115 is a really good deal but $118 is still great. Those don’t come around often. For $160 points that is $480…. Over 37 years left that’s $12 a year.

Yep. I thought AUL-S was hard to beat that’s why I offered. But then I also started researching more about potential dues increases to justify going above my budget.

Also. I let a VGC contract go over $700 and lucked out and got a better VGC contract the following week.

The question I would ask myself for BLT v AUL is “how often do you plan to use them at WDW v AUL?” If you’re using them at WDW more than 75% of the time I’d say “absolutely BLT!” because it allows you to book hotel and flights at 11m and then you can kind of see if you are able to trade into somewhere you like better. If you are going to AUL more than 50% of the time I’d say “absolutely AUL sub” because it’s hard to wing it trading into a Hawaii trip. 50-75% is murky— I’d give the edge to AUL because you are very likely to be able to trade into WDW somewhere at 7mo, but it is a real headache to get longer stretches in certain room types at AUL at the 7mo mark for some times of the year.

AUL-S offered $112pp seller pay MF. Rejected and was countered with $118pp. Countered back at $115 and was rejected. This was a hard one to let go but it's best for now. Maybe another will come along if I decide I still want AUL-S
I’ll take my stripped aul-s at 115 every day of the week. Sellers can easily get 130 a point for them stripped if they play the waiting game. I know I have passed on some at that ppp that eventually sold at full offer. So good for you for walking away from one for 3 ppp. Better man than I am.

You have much more willpower than I do.

Mine goes: I offer - they counter- I say OK, absolutely
That was us with BRV. Paid $96pp after we met in the middle between $90 and $102. Yeah, I was previously looking at SSR in the $80s, but I really wanted BRV and was okay with the shorter contract (ends when our youngest gets out of college). I know SSR could get me BRV in June, but can it get me BRV at Christmas and shirt from Disney that says I own at BRV? Sometimes you just have to pay extra for bragging rights when wasting money, right?
$120pp

We had set ourselves a budget based on cost pp over the life. Coming up $3 put us over that so the additional $3 put us over even more. It was hard to say no, but we told ourselves we would.
Finally... someone buying DVC showing some restraint 🤣

There is a 200 point contact subsidizes dues for 115 on resale market 👀 maybe they are more willing to ball?

I agree that sometimes the waiting game pays off. I considered adding SSR and made $80-90 offers on contracts with '25 year points and was either rejected or countered at 95+.

Found an OKWExt contract with 24 and 25 points who accepted my $90 offer. Lets see what Disney does with that.
Huge difference between the availability of OKW/SSR and AUL-S though.
I’ve read that SSR is the most bought and sold timeshare in the world.

Bay Lake Tower - 50 points, October use year with 100 2024 points; asking $170/point; offered $127; seller countered at $165. I walked away. This contract wasn’t in my use year so is worth less to me personally. And $165 is crazy talk.

Saratoga Springs - 50 points, December use year with 0 2024 points; asking $108/point; offered $88; seller rejected with no counter but suggested I increase my offer. I walked away because I don’t really want to stay at SSR at all; these are strictly SAP, so that is what it is worth to me.

I don’t think you are going to get 200 point contract pricing on 50 point contacts….

So, for posterity…. can we say that the AUL-S @$118 is no longer on the “rejected” list?

I wouldn't have even bothered with the SSR if you don't like staying at SSR at all but for the BLT yeesh. For that small of a contract probably 130 and maybe even up to 140 but they weren't even in the same universe as you lol

I mean, if I am going to be paying $165 for a fifty point contract, I might as well go all out and buy one at VGF. I only hoped for BLT because I already own there.

But how many sellers are there of 50 point contracts? Small contracts are a different game.
Not a ton, but I haven’t been in a huge hurry either. I’ve kicked around a number of scenarios, including buying 50 points direct (I would like access to VDH, but I think I would have to own there to reliably get what I want). For now I am deferring any VDH plans though; it isn’t the right time for our family for that and Florida is more convenient. Ultimately I made an offer on one in my use year at AKV that was accepted. Not a crazy low or high price. I don’t mind AKV’s dues on a smaller contract, plus seeing safari animals outside my window is going to be awesome if we stay there.

And having 11 month priority for those value rooms is pretty great. I considered AKV specifically for those rooms but ultimately decided I wanted too many points to buy an AKV contract.
