Rejected Offers Thread

I feel like this is some brokers’ favorite thing to say. I can only speak for myself and it’s not worth much but I’m honest on this thread and the ROFR thread. I am highly doubtful there are many lying though it’s possible. That said, some people have posted the county prices of actual sales in the past and the deals tend to have a pretty wide range. I’m rambling a bit but basically I think this is unprofessional and I suspect inaccurate from a broker. I feel like what I’ve learned is, the number that makes sense for any buyer/seller duo can be widely variable and (within reason) you should wait to find a seller that agrees to a number that is right for you.
While I do think 90%+ of people on here are honest, it has been reported in the past by users who check the recorded deeds, that there have been some really good deals posted here that never showed up in any reported deeds. So people have lied before, but yes, it's probably a very tiny subsection of posters.

This is my feeling too. There probably are some dishonest people but it is uncommon.

Totally valid point. Also valid is that a purchase must make sense. I am not begrudgingly the sellers, that is their money. I am in charge of my money and that is the price point that makes sense to me.
I think this is what we’re seeing with a few different resorts—the sellers (fairly) value their points at a higher price point than where many buyers (also fairly) assess it makes sense for them. A person who has and continues to fly to Hawaii at least once a year will get much better value out of AUL points than someone buying them as “cheap” SAP who might not visit AUL more than once every 5 years. I think with BLT and CCV were routinely over 140, AUL was a better SAP deal even at 115-120, but probably a lot of those buyers are now taking bites at BLT or CCV. Similarly, I know I’d use VGC every year but can’t reliably predict dates 8-11m (sometimes even 3m!) in advance, so I can’t justify paying much more than $200/pt— even though I completely understand why a seller doesn’t want to sell below $250.

My post was more about trying to tell this online community that this place feels very different than others I have tried. I have not felt envy or jealousy for anyone here that has negotiated a good deal. I feel happiness for them.

All of this can be true at the same time. I will continue to look for my deals. People that own points can choose there own selling price. And we can have the degenerates like me believe they have some comradery on this forum.
I think many of us feel this way—we can root for others to get the best price and dodge the ROFR monster. I really shouldn’t be buying any more points but I can be happy for others getting great deals. Sometimes I wince seeing somebody get a loaded AUL contract for about half of what I paid—but the truth is that other people getting good deals now doesn’t impact us owners unless we are actively looking to sell. To take it a step further, I’d rather that my fellow AUL owners who want out at $80-100/pt get out now as opposed to having them all unload at once in the next economic downturn. ::thinking positively intensifies::

Check out this broker response to a (reasonable IMO) offer on a stripped AUL contract, after telling them that I thought it was in line with recently accepted offers reported here…

´´HAHAHAHAHA!!

Also dont' believe everything you read on DisBoards.

I have watched my own buyers say they got a contract for $100 when they paid $112, I've also seen my sellers say they got $112 when they got $100. Everybody wants to one up everybody else!´´

🤷‍♀️
I think I know who this broker is.
I don’t mention the disboards by name I just say recorded sales. I belong to a deal forum that’s very popular.. and the 1st rule of slickdeals is you never mention slickdeals 😂

There’s no excuse for that kind of unprofessional behavior. Honestly, they are trying to manipulate buyers into paying higher prices by mocking them…and I’m guessing they do it because it works for some people. Feel free to take my response template: “This is the kind of response you see from anonymous message board trolls but I’m shocked to see your manager tolerates this kind of behavior associated with your company. I see there’s no point in further negotiation— I’ll keep trying to find a contract at a price I think is reasonable and you keep trying to sell this contract at a price that you think is reasonable and the market will decide which one of us laughs last.”

Just to be clear, I’m not shocked by the tacky behavior, but if you’re going to try to shame me you should expect to be called out for it.

I always just went in with my lowball offers with "I know this is well below asking, and may be unrealistic, but its all I want to pay. If you don't think it should be presented, fine by me, I will try elswhere"....not once, including some of the brokers who are known for this, did they refuse to submit....now, who knows if they did, but in one case, I got a counter, and walked anyway.

That broker response is so so unprofessional. I’m trying to imagine any professional, business transaction in which a response like that would be okay.

I also don’t believe people on the Disboards are just routinely lying. What would even be the point.

For the record, I’d be looking for Aulani around $80-90 too if not subsidized.

That’s very similar to how I respond if I get anything other than a wildly inappropriate response (for example, if they invite me to counter against myself). I say that I am aware that $X is on the lower end of recent sales but it’s the highest number that works for me and I don’t blame the seller if they want to try to hold out for a higher price…and to let me know if they change their mind down the line.

I just had the MOST disrespectful phone call from this exact company about an offer I submitted. It is EXACTLY who you think it is. I am so conflicted because I love their other content by my gosh, I cannot further spend money at this company. There needs to be a full circle reality check on basic customer service.

I am so curious which one is being referenced! I am new enough that I still can’t figure these things out sometimes.

I suggest digging through other threads. This is not anything new. I am just shocked that regardless of what all is said here, nothing changes. This tactic must work for them financially as it’s been brought up multiple times on this thread and nothing changes. We are huge DVC fans, we want to talk DVC, we are your perfect consumers. But you want to alienate me from your company for some reason by bullying me under the guise of education.
Also, I’m not going to stop lowballing-because it does work and I’m getting the best price, period.

I’m not sure where to start on digging through other threads, but that’s ok. I am sure I’ll have some of my own experiences soon enough. Sorry you had that experience!

I’ll also just add the only semi-negative experience I’ve had so far was with someone from www.resales.*******.com named after a pollinator. I am using the link in hopes that adheres to board rules but if not feel free to delete. I am newish and not trying to skirt any rules.

That is very kind of you and thank you! I hope you don’t find out on your own and that they eventually change their tune. I can’t mention the name outright here so that’s why I’m not being forward.

Totally understand! And again, not trying to break any rules (still sorting them out).

You can mention the name by typing in the web address as you know. Are you worried that the name is not banned and there may be some repercussions ?
