Reincarnation?

I do believe in reincarnation; however I'm not entirely sure we all reincarnate. Most of the stories you hear about those who remember past lives are from people who died very young. It could be that those who didn't get an opportunity to live a full live are given another chance. Or - it could just be that we all reincarnate, but somehow the trauma of dying young lends itself to easier recall in the next life.

Yep, I agree with this. I don't believe for a second that a human comes back as a gerbil or tadpole and so on, so forth.

I don't believe humans can come back as animals; however one hypothesis I've entertained is that the souls of lower level life forms may combine to be reincarnated into a single higher life form. For example, 100 ants may come back as one frog. Then 100 frogs to a dog. And dogs to people, etc. Crazy thought, I know, but it makes a weird kind of sense to me. I don't necessarily believe that's what happens, it's just one of many strange thoughts that have come me while pondering the mysteries of the universe :)

Personally I don't believe in the reincarnation of a soul but since Hinduism is a major world religion that accepts reincarnation as a basic tenet of the faith I would think you could find bunches about the belief system if you look at any Indian based work.

I do think there is some truth to Karma.

So, how would karma and reincarnation work then? I'd be curious to know if people who believe in this have a theory? Is there a supreme being who decides how good or bad you've been and what your next life will be? Or does it just somehow magically happen? Same with any kind of reincarnation. How in the world does it happen? Is there someone in charge or does it just occur?

Also, if you believe in reincarnation, that's a faith/religion. Whether its organized or not - it still sounds like faith in something. So, how does it work? Truly just curious :goodvibes.

I've often wondered that myself. One common belief (that I don't share) is that we pick our own parents. That doesn't make sense to me because who would choose to be born to abusive, alcoholic, losers? And wouldn't everyone be fighting over the wealthy, caring, loving parents? Also, I can't imagine that I ever chose my own parents. I mean, I love(d) them, but they were a very poor fit for me - I was like a fish out of water in my family and they had a very difficult time parenting me.

I never really believed it, but there have been some stories that made me think twice. One of my teachers had a daughter who led them to a house in a different town which is "where she lived when she was a boy." It was very matter of fact. They happened to be driving around and when they got to the center of town she knew where she was and gave them directions to the blue house with white shutter and a front porch. Not a single wrong turn and they were sitting in front of the house. I think she was 4.

That said, when Titanic came out I had repeated dreams of drowning. Very vivid, feeling the water and seeing the darkness and waking up because I couldn't breathe. I was also male. It wasn't all calm like freezing to death like Leo DiCaprio did. It was very cold and I could feel the water in my mouth and nose. It's happened very time I see anything related to it, including when Ghost Hunters investigated the exhibit. Do I think I died on the Titanic? Probably not, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if I found out that a previous self had drowned.

In reincarnation, or the theories there of you stay in the same soul type family--so humans only come back as humans, animals as animals, etc.

"Grandpa's" family was not just different and colorful. To say they were not known for being bound by rules (of reincarnation or otherwise) would be an understatement. It just struck me as amazing (even at 13) that an entire extended family was firmly convinced, within a very short time of the dog's arrival, that this was their grandfather. Believe me, even at 13, I asked questions like, "Don't you think he'd have come back as a human instead of a stray dog?" but they'd have none of it. It was very strange to be the only person around who did not "KNOW" that this was Grandpa. In that house, I was the weird one.

I was always fascinated with the Titanic when I was in high school in the 1960's. I read books about it, even have a book that was published in 1912 with a list of all those who died. Later when I found out about reincarnation I wondered if I had been onboard the Titanic in another life. I don't really recall having dreams or being afraid of water just a feeling I had.

So I think reincarnation is possible but I am not positive that it happens. I think the stories about the young children are very interesting.

Okay this is a weird thought I had but I don't know if I believe it. So I think it doesn't make sense for there to be nothing after you die. We learn/don't learn so much in life that I don't see why it would end with us. Also nature never has accounted for parents to teach things to its offspring in the sense that human's do. I think people who say family came to visit them are just coping with the loss. Look at all the so called "psychics". So do I think reincarnation is possible to refine the soul yes. Some people also think that you reincarnate at any space in time. So you can reincarnate in the future.. in the past .. now.

I just love that story. I think I'll try to convince my family that the cat is my great-grandmother. Preferably at a holiday meal. Just to make things interesting.:lmao:

I absolutely believe in reincarnation. There are several Sylvia Browne books on the subject that really ring true for me. According to her we start out in "heaven" as spiritual beings. We can stay there if we want to. While we are there we can't learn or grow spiritually. Most people want to grow and learn and become more than what we are. We will sit down with a spiritual advisor and make a plan. Maybe this lifetime you want to learn patience. The only way to learn patience is to spend a lifetime having your patience tested. Maybe you want to learn nurturing so you decide you will have 6 kids this life time. Maybe you want to learn to overcome obsticles so you are born with huge obsticles to overcome. It's like exercising. You only get stronger by using those muscles and sometimes it can hurt. That explains why we don't all choose to coast through an easy life. We all have our own challenges. Some people take it easy and work on one thing at a time. Others of us get a little carried away pre-life and decide to tackle a whole laundry list of things in life. The spiritual advisor will sometimes tell us to take it easy and slow down. Heaven is so perfect we often forget how tough life is. She also says we choose our parents and they have a certain role to fulfill. Sometimes on Earth we will run into someone we knew in the spiritual realm. This is when you have that feeling like you know someone and have an instant connection with that person. The only time we don't choose our parents is if you kill yourself. If you kill yourself you don't go back to heaven. Instead you go in to the 1st available womb that comes close to matching the situation you were previously in and you go back to work and finish what you started. It's not the easy way out because once you've commited to life and all the challenges involved you are meant to finish it.

Karma is something different. This has more to do with the energy in the universe. The whole universe and everything in it is made of energy. Whatever we send out comes back to us. Books like "the secret" go into further detail about how all of that works

Very interesting stories. Not sure how I feel about reincarnation, but there seems some validity to it.

A friend became a believer due to an experience with her younger son. Almost as soon as he could speak he would cry and say to her, "I want to go home, I want to go home."

She and her husband would comfort him and assure him that he was home with his mommy and daddy and safe and loved.

He would shake his head and cry again, "But, I want to go home. I want to go home".

My friend and her husband found this rather unnerving but didn't know what to do about it. They would just reassure him he was at home and safe.

He never explained further and eventually outgrew this.

There is a book called "Soul Survivor" about a little boy who seemed to be an air force pilot in a previous life. It may be of particular interest to Bella the Ball 360 as it has similarities to her son's experience.

I got chills when that book came out and I read it a few years ago because it so paralleled what my son had said AND my son told me this 21 years ago! At that time I knew nothing of reincarntion.

The theory is you pick your life to learn a lesson or perhaps to atone for something you have done in a past life. I read a book Journey of Souls which put forth the theory that you keep coming back and in effect earing points for lack of a better way to describe it so that you never need to reincarnate again . The goal is to be a soul so elevated that you have learned all your life lessons. That being the case I am fuzzy as to how new souls are created. It is the same for living a really hard life or coming back with a birth defect etc. You do on to come back again and perhaps pull what you learned into your new life to better help you live as a more elevated soul.

Dh and I have 6 children. Two of them are young (11 months-twins) so I'm not sure about them yet, but I'm pretty sure our 5yo was here before. He would do and say things that no toddler should know how to do, for instance, the first time he picked up a pencil, before he was even a year old, he held it in a PERFECT pencil grip and began scribbling! He lost the pencil grip about 6 months later. He spoke about war and battles when he was only 2 and had only watched Little Einsteins.

We also lost a son to an umbilical cord accident. Sometimes, even though we are done having children, I feel that we need to have one more because our son is waiting to come into the world. (and I have a gut feeling if I were to get pregnant again it would be a son)

Big time believer here! To me,it just makes sense. There are too many instances of saying "I've been here before,or I know you!" to discount mere coincidence. One of my favorite things to do while listening to headphones when I was younger was conduct to the music.Years later, while attending a channeling session, the entity came through and told me that in a past life,I was a composer, conductor, and pianist.Pretty wild to hear that.;)

When my youngest brother was about 2 yrs old he started talking about his "other family". He could describe where they lived, it sounded like a farm with a lake on the property, We grew up in burbs so he wasn't talking about anything he had seen just out and about. He talked about his other parents and siblings he could tell you what then looked like, ect. All his talk about this family actually started to freak the rest of us out after awhile because it was so detailed. By the time he was 5 or 6 he stopped talking about it completely. Was it just a vivid imagination or was he reincarnated, who knows, but it really made me take a closer look into the subject .

Fascinating! I would have been tempted to ask for names and a city.

I dated a guy with a strange mom. She swore her daughter was psychic, but now that I think about it, reincarnation fits the bill better. The daugher, when she was little, would play with an imaginary cat. She would say the name of the cat and describe it physically and what it liked to do, and it was exactly the cat her mother had as a child. The daughter even brought up some things the cat did that the mother forgot about until mentioned.

This is also the same house where doorknobs would just jiggle on their own accord so who knows, really.

I think it's as possible as anything else, but I'm in no hurry to find out for sure.

I don't believe in reincarnation. But if there is such a thing I hope I come back as an extremely attractive brunette woman about 5'10", 120lbs, long legs, and beautiful blue eyes. That would make up for what I have to look at in the mirror in this current life. A male 5'10', 235lbs, and balding. :rotfl2:

Well, okay... :confused3... that does raise the question if we get to choose or if something in one life has any influence on the next. I'm not sure how I would want to come back, but I'll have to start thinking of some good options just in case.:upsidedow
