Rehersal Dinner Suggestions

Greetings All,

My DF and I are getting married in WDW in early November and were wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a location for our rehersal dinner.

It will probably be a group of twenty of us and we would like to host the dinner at a restaurant along the monorail line (outside of a park though). Along the monorail line would be very convenient b/c everybody could hop on it after the rehersal to get to it, and my DF is staying at the GF the night before our wedding.

Also, during our planning session last month we scouted a few restaurants out and determined that while Ohana has good food it was not quite the atmosphere we desired. We are looking for a more "non-rushed" and just a bit quieter atmosphere. Currently, were thinking of the Concourse Steak House in the CR.

Any thoughts, suggestions, or experiences are welcomed.

Concourse could be good. There is also Kona Cafe, great food but not really an intimate atmosphere.

How about one of the Signature Places. A little more $$, but definately nice interiors. At the GF, you have Citrico and Narcoossees and then at CR you have Cali Grill (the wine room would be lovely for a private party)

Have fun planning!

I would definitely look into the wine room at the California Grill. With a party of 20, as long as they have space for all of you I bet you could request that. Also check out Narcoosee's, that just has a rehearsal dinner vibe to it. I wouldn't suggest the Concourse Steakhouse because that is going to be in the middle of the CR's concourse renovations in December and you wouldn't want to have to deal with that (also, the atmosphere just feels too institutional for a rehearsal dinner).

If you would consider off the monorail line, I would suggest Jiko. Great food and a very nice atmosphere. They even have a small seperate room that they might be able to put you with just a few other diners.

Does the Cali Grill serve more "normal" "traditional" food? I'm asking b/c a few people in our group don't usually eat food that has weird spices/dressings/toppings, etc. on it...they usually stick to the basics...chicken/steak.

You should be fine then, I attached a link to the menu. Also keep in mind that you can see the fireworks that go off at the Magic Kingdom from the California Grill Restaurant, if you don't get a table with a view there is a place that you can go outside. It is a really nice restaurant. We are going back in June of 08 and we are definately making a reservation for CG. Congrats and Good Luck.

Call and ask about using the private dining room at California Grill. I'm not sure what the minimum number of guests is, but it's a great room with a fabulous view of the fireworks.

This is the number for the Contemporary that is listed on Allears.net (Contemporary 407-824-1000)

I recently read that Narcoosee has a private dining room and that the chef will work with you on a special menu. That will be convenient for your DF, on the monorail line, and will allow you to select what you want for the more selective in your group.

FYI...I think the Concourse will be closed by November...they are moving the counter service restaurant to that location and are making another causal dining venue on the first floor in the space formerly occupied by the arcade...I am not sure of the closing date, but I thought it was in October...sorry.

First, thanks to everybody for their suggestions and thoughts. I had not thought about the ongoing construction in the Contemporary and it is a great point.

Were still a bit undecided and we made a reservation for the Kona Cafe, but this came with stipulations. The reservations are for 5PM and we cannot all sit at one big table. Instead our party will be seated at 3 tables close toghether. I am not quite satisfied with this but I understand their reasons.

IMGONNABE40!, do you remember where you read the comment about the private dining room at Narcoosee's at? I have to admit after thinking about what another poster said the atmosphere for a rehersal dinner might be suited at one of the signature dining restaurants.
