What would you say are the top three decisions/life-choices you've made that you regret?

Something I did when I was 16, something I almost did recently.
There are other's, but right this minute, those are the biggies.

Edited to stick the perm in the pity party category that it really belongs into.

tough sunday morning question
1) not finishing college degree
2) taking out that first credit card
3) moving in with someone who I never should of

I only have one. Not spending more time with my Father when he was alive.Since losing him,I make it a point to see and/or talk with my Mom and Jens parents regularly. We never know when someone will be taken from us.

I don't live with regrets... anything that happened to me, makes me who I am today.

That is very true, however I still have regrets ;)

1. That I didn't finish college

2. That I didn't pursue my dream of being a writer (but hey I ain't dead yet, right?)

3. Some VERY stupid financial moves.

Life's too short to dwell on the bad. No regrets here.

I like this thread, makes you think about what regrets you may have, what life decisions we have made that perhaps if we had to do all over again, we would have made differently, but I think they are a little to personal to post publically, personally speaking that is. Although I will say that I do also regret not spending more quality time with dear departed family and friends.

Regrets are a good thing. I can't imagine any human going through life never making a choice they don't pause to wonder about later. Live life, and learn from it. I believe our "regrets" from our past make us better people for today. JMHO of course.

"I can't imagine any human going through life never making a choice they don't pause to wonder about later. "

i don't really think of that as a regret. i think about my life all the time, i just don't regret anything i've done b/c if i didn't do it, i'd be a different person, not me. :)

Sometimes a good decision at the time turns out to be a regret 5 years later! And very often, you don't even realize what a regret is until you are much more mature....and hopefully a little wiser at that point. ;)

:D

Yes I have some regrets, but they are far too personal to list them here.

I agree with Elaine....everything I have done so far, bad or good, has made me who I am. While I wish I could have had more time with my dad, I realize everything happens for a reason.

Not going away to college. I went to a college close to home, so I lived home, and now that I look back, I would have benefitted from the "away" experience. I also sometimes wish that I had really looked at more options for career choices.

Regrets, I 've had a few,
But then again too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exception
I planned each charted course
each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this,
I did it My Way.

Since I'm a teen they arent really life decisions but I would have to say:
1) being too scared to get my license so I still dont have it
2) dating some guys that I did date
3) Becoming best friends with someone who took control of my life (I just ended this friendship recently)

I was in the fast lane academically and finished medical school when I was only 24. Along the way I sacrificed a very special relationship because I was "pedal to the metal".

Almost everything that I regret had some good things come out of it, too.
For instance, I could say that I regret being with Thom but my children are so wonderful that I can't regret being with him because they would have never been born if I had not been with him.

The few things that I do regret:
1) Not telling my uncle that I loved him a few days before he died.
2) Not leaving Thom sooner (after Bobby was born.)
3) Not telling a guy that I had strong feelings for him because I thought I wasn't good enough (pretty enough, in this case) for him and then realizing later that he had the same feelings for me.
4) Not standing up for myself and for my rights that I deserve just for being a person (respect, freedom from abuse, etc.) more
