DH wants to put tools onto the bridal registry whenever we go to register at different places. I don't think that tools are something that should go on a bridal registry. What are everyone else's opinions?

When I do my bridal registry I'm going to put on it anything that takes my fancy... Same goes with my DBF, if he wants something, by all means add it to the registry... Stops us from having to pay for it, and having less money for our Disney trip...

i think its fine to have them on the registry. :) Its about filling a house for the both of you. When we went to register for things I picked out what I wanted and put anything that DF wanted on there too. He picked out an LCD picture frame, grill stuff, etc. I picked out my $300 mixer and a new vacuum cleaner lol...I'm sure he gaffed at my picks, but he couldn't say anything since I let him keep the 4-set of Guiness mugs :thumbsup2

I think maybe 10 or 15 years ago the tools would have been odd, but now they really aren't. The old idea of the woman setting up housekeeping has been replaced with the couple filling their new home. I put a grill on my Target registry for Rob. I also have that 300 mixer on my list (not like I think I'm going to get it), but having some "manly" things on the list shows that we're in this together. It's not just my wedding, but his as well. Besides, the men who may be getting us a gift are going to feel alot more comfortable buying tools rather than new towels or kitchen stuff. JMHO... :goodvibes

Okay, so in the interest of full disclosure, I am a guy. But I'm not really into tools and fixing things or using my hands (unless it's to play Wii).

Having said, I think tools are a totally appropriate registry item. Granted, they may be used more by the man of the house, but they're really for both of you. No home is complete without a tool set stashed in the garage or under the sink.

Having been a single guy in a former life, I've also enjoyed being able to buy tools when I see them on friends' registries. They're SO much more useful than, say, a salad shooter. (Maybe not as fun, though.)

Hey I would have put a 72'' screen tv on mine, but my mom said no. :( party pooper. LOL

Okay.. just my 2 cents...I think a few tools here and there are fine - both of you should be represented. But it's only okay in moderation. DF has had several friends who have gotten married recently and (IMO) have had the WORST registery lists ever.

There was one registery where all that was listed were things like extension cords, plungers, garbage bags, and other completely non-wedding-y strange things. I found it tacky - it felt like they were expecting their wedding guests to do their "necessity" shopping for them. This was the hardest wedding I've ever had to buy for and we acctually ended up just giving a gc, because I couldn't justify buying a plunger as a wedding gift :rotfl:

I think if you're keep in mind that these are gifts, then I think you should put whatever you want on them.

Happy registry building! :thumbsup2

LMAO! A plunger?! :lmao:

I am so glad that I have you girls (and the few guys) to go to with all my, somewhat, frustrating stuff. You have help me so much more than I could have imagined. I am now okay to the idea of tools on a registry!:cutie: DF will be very happy!

We only have our Disney honeymoon registry set up at the moment, and DF has golf on there while I have spa treatments - the majority of things will be for us together but we're quite happy for each other to do things that we enjoy on our own.

DF is also always getting tools with money from the joint account, which I don't mind, lol :rotfl:
