I see that yest. was the registration deadline for the sat. I see there is also now late registration. I know that involves an extra fee. With everything going on I just forgot about it and ds thinks he is not ready to take the test again just yet. I am wondering if anyone has registered late did you get your first test site choice etc. He has taken an sat prep course but wants more time to review the material again. I dont think I am pressuring him but I know there are a few more dates he could do. We just really want the hs close to our home.

I can't help you with the late registration part, because I registered my DD to take it again on the October 8th date several weeks ago. But if your son wants more time to review, I'd just sign him up for the next available one that you could get him at the high school location you want.

Best of luck to your son. My DD is a senior and our oldest. This whole college application process is going to be quite an adventure!!

Yesterday was NOT the deadline. It was extended until Friday b/c of the hurricanes. I registered my son yesterday and he got his first choice of sites.

If you register between the regular deadline and the late one, you pay an extra fee. You also can often do the test "walk-in" and you pay the regular fee, late fee and a walk-in fee. You are not guaranteed that you will get in, however, when you do it walk-in.

I registered DD to take the SAT about 3 weeks ago and she still didn't get either her first or second site choice. Now, I'm going to have to find a school that is way on the other side of town. I guess it just depends on how many have signed up that want the same site you want.

Yeah - you may want to check their website and see if you can still get your first choice site. Otherwise, wait and have him take it later (January?). Make sure that isn't too late for the college he wants to apply to. (some schools want them taken by a certain date.)
Of course, if he says he's not ready to re-take it, he should probably wait! It needs to be his idea on the timing, unless he's just dragging his feet - in that case - good luck!
