I don't know about other states but here in Texas the deadline to register for this election has passed. But if you have'nt registered go ahead and do it know so your ready for the next election.

In Florida you had to register to vote by the 4th of October I believe.

But I agree, you can still register to vote in the next election.

I believe that you can still vote in the Presidential Election even if you aren't registered. You have to go to the local Supervisor of Elections office to vote, or fill out an affidavit and provisional ballot at your local polling place. You MUST have some form of photo ID, or something else proving citizenship, as I recall. This lead to some claims of disenfranchaisement in the 2000 election. People (who weren't on the rolls, and didn't have a voter's reg. card) wanted to vote without going through this procedure. There was no record of them being registered, and they had no proof that they were, but still wanted to vote as a registered voter. Granted, there might have been mistakes made, and people were dropped from the rolls who had previously voted, or recently registered, but they could have cast the provisional ballots. Most were people who hadn't voted for years, or had been dropped for other reasons (felons, moved away for a while and dropped their registration) and had never checked on their voting status.

SORRY...I think you have to swear that you are registered to vote...somewhere. ;)
