We're bringing our wonderful babysitter with us on our next trip. My initial thought was that she wouldn't qualify for the discount because she's not a member of the family. But since she's our babysitter maybe she is? She's allowed to use our pool/club membership when she's taking care of our kids. ;) It's sort of the same thing.

I guess I just need to ask member services?

Does her drivers license have your home address? Any adult must provide proof that they reside at the same address as the DVC member.

She doesn't have a drivers license.

We could probably pull it off if we wanted to be dishonest, but I want to follow the rules.

She would need identification (as an adult) to get the ticket. Proof of who she is.

Wow, we really like you guys. You are the kind of people we like to call our DVC family. We know everyone could use a discount every now and then, but you guys are choosing to be honest about it. Not "fudging" your babysitters ID or address for a discount is extremely commendable. :cheer2:

For that reason alone DVC should work something out for you!

Often people take advantage of their membership or expect way too much from it. You can see it all the time in just about any DVC resort. Its that attitude that gives the rest of us a bad name.

We hope you guys can work something out. Have a really wonderful trip.

Can I be your babysitter? :flower: j/k

When you take your babysitter with you, how do you compensate her? Do you pay for all her food/tickets/travel/expenses and pay her on top of that? We are about to take a babysitter with us, and I was wondering what was fair.

Is she on vacation or is she working? If she is working, you should pay for everything, plus give her the salary you would normally give her. She should still have the normal time off she would have at home - weekends, evenings, etc. You need to work out the details ahead of time so she knows your expectations.

Well, I spoke with someone at Disney regarding the tickets and he said it was for immediate family, so no discount for the babysitter.

We're paying for her entire trip (she's 17), airline ticket, lodging, tickets into the parks and all meals. She will get the equivalent of two days "off" while we're there (we'll be there 8 days), broken up however she'd like. We aren't paying her over and above that. From what I've heard, this is a typical and acceptable arrangement. But, as Deb & Bill said, we talked about it ahead of time and laid out what our expectations were. She is actually thrilled to do it! I know I would have been too at her age!! :goodvibes

Our thought is that we'll probably spend the majority of time together. That extra pair of hands will really come in handy with a 4 year old and a 1 year old. DH and I will have a few hours to ourselves every once in a while, hopefully once a day. :earseek: The luxury!!

We're really looking forward to this trip. :teeth:

You are absolutely right about the extra pair of handsbeing helpful! My DH & I went to WDW for a week with my brother's family. At the time the boys were 16 months and 5. The little guy alone required 3 adults, LOL! (He was a handful)! MY DSIL said they never could have done it on their own - you'll be so glad you brought her!

Best wishes -
