Regarding internet privacy

It is not the identity theft I am worried about, we have horrible credit because we are cash only, it is the people that post countdowns of when they are leaving and where they are staying. People who have shared on Twitter, Facebook and other forums have come home to empty houses because nefarious types know exactly where they live and when they will be gone on vacation.

We never talk about a vacation in progress unless someone is staying at our home and someone usually does, otherwise we post about it after the fact.

My life is an open book... I don't really care who pays attention to it. Granted there's a few things I don't open my mouth about. But in general I'm not afraid to share anything.
Showing pics on the net is no different than walking down main street... people from all over the world are going to see me.

Heck, most the time I'm ignored anyways... so it doesn't really matter.

even using all those sites, nothing personal about me is showing up. I find more searching google with my full name, but that's mainly cause I did a walkthrough for a game years ago.

Yup. I have a countdown,but my house isn't empty when I leave for vacation. My friend stays with her 3 dogs and takes care of my 2 dogs. I'm pretty sure 5 Dobermans on my property will deter anyone thinking of breaking in.

When first dating my husband, I of course "googled" him. He himself doesn't have an internet presence. (As a computer guy, I wasn't surprised, we are both ultra-cautious). BUT there is another person out there with the same name.... who is in the porn business.... , needless to say, that was a shock to see!
