Decided to restart my PJ! I haven't seen too many recent ADH receptions or guest numbers around mine so hopefully I can help out some others!
Our Engagement James had been teasing me for a couple months about when and where it would happen. He is a big planner and kept changing his mind and finally came up with a plan that he liked. However, the two weeks before his plan was suppose to happen I received some unhappy news regarding a papsmear (tmi-ish sorry) and just started freaking out every worst case scenario running through my head. to make matters worse I had to have a consultation to discuss what they found and the next step. This appt happened at the end of a very busy work and school week (worked extra hours, late nights, and two tests). I, of course, called him in tears. This was this one weekend that he could not rearrange his schedule and hadn't planned on coming down. He offered to take me out to dinner, in the shopping center where I work, in between jobs (he lives and works two hours away) normally i would say no because its so much driving for a quick stop but after everything I dealt with that day and week i said yes. So he texts me a text once he gets into town to make sure I'm off work. I told him I was clocking out and heading to my car, he responded "good. bc i have a story and a gift." I assumed he had flowers and a crazy work story to cheer me up. He meets me at my car and wraps his arms around me we talk for a minute and then he smoothly hijacks the convo starts his story:"well you know, back in the day, Cinderella had it pretty rough too. All she did was work. and she had to deal with some bad roommates too at least you only had one witch living in your house," (i had an awful roommate, really awful) He winked and continued, "but then something great happened, she was able to put everything aside for one day and happened to meet her prince and they really hit it off, sadly life had to start back up but luckily for the prince she lost her shoe and he found it. Not so luckily for him he had to start the daunting task of searching all over 18th century London trying this shoe on all these women." He pauses breaks story and says, "Actually thats really gross, those women didn't wash their feet think of the lack of hygiene back then. But anyway, he finally finds her." He stops her and reaches into his pocket and hands me a shoe charm for my Pandora bracelet. At this point I'm overwhelmed bc i was just expecting something silly. He then KEEPS on with the story, "He is so happy that he found her and is able to take her away from her current crappy life and give her the life she deserved. You know he must have really really cared about her if he went through all that. But you know the one thing that he didn't do?" At this point, in the parking lot right beside my car, he kneels down and pulls a box out out of his pocket and as he opens it ask "Will you marry me?" I was overjoyed I said yes almost immediately and just started laughing and trying to not cry for the billionth time that day. He laughed at me and said "You thought it was happening next weekend didn't you?" We had a big dinner movie date planned for that weekend. We walked over to a pub got a beer and tried to get food but they were ridiculously slow and I had less than an hour to get home changed and head to job number 2 and he had to drive back home to get to bed so he could be awake and alert for the tennis tournament he was ref-ing at 6:30 am haha.
Why Disney? We are both kids at heart and over the summer had managed to watch a majority of the Disney classics in preparation for our week in Disney this past august. I had always wanted to get married in Disney but after attending a wedding and hearing how stressful it was to plan and how much it cost I was ready to run off to Vegas or just go to the courthouse. James persuaded me to go the Disney route as did everyone else. He has already been such a huge help in planning, he knows I'm not that in to planning or details or really focusing on myself so he is making me haha.
on to the planning! Ideally I am hoping for Dec 29, 2011. James is a teacher, as are two of my aunts, so that falls in their break not to mention the 8-10 school aged guests! I think we have narrowed it down to Sea Breeze Point (maybe still have to check on avg temps for that time of year) and the Atlantic Dance Hall. We are planning on a brunch and shorter reception and then a dessert fireworks party that evening. And then all of the of age friends will be heading out for a night on the town after that
I actually already have my dress, didn't plan on buying it however! we received a huge discount because it was a sample and well, it was perfect.
ring pictures! put in links because i wasn't sure how to make the pictures smaller haha.
