Has anyone ever reused their refillable mugs - this just seems like a great way to save money and how would anyone ever know? ;)

Seriously - I e-mailed Disney and asked the question - b/c I was bored and I saw someone post what was probably a fake response the other day:

here is their response:

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

Please know that the "Souvenir Mug" program at Walt Disney World® Resorts allow
you to refill
beverages (including hot coffee & tea) at your Resort for the length of your
current stay. Please
note that this program is for your Resort only. It is not extended to refills
at other Walt Disney
World Resorts® or Theme Parks.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all
correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Sasha Scheremetow

Yes!! More mug debates!! I'll be ready for this tomorrow. Bed time now.

I'm too tired tonight to post on this..see you tomorrow :cool1:

PS, your answer is a little different from what they sent me, but much more like mine than the other one posted. Mine didn't say anything about using them at other resorts...so I guess that it's ok :rotfl2:

will I get a discount using my DDE discount card on the mugs as well

Do you think you could use refillable mugs from the last time you were there? My friend has some mugs from the All Star Movies that she would give me if we could use them when we go to the ASM? I think they are from last year? Do the CM's fill the mugs or do you do it on your own?

On our upcoming trip, I am planning on bringing ALL our previously purchased mugs so we can stop by the corresponding resorts and fill them rather than have to buy drinks at the parks!!!! (For example, when we are at MK, I'm going to run over to GF with my GF mug for diet coke when I want one, then when we are going to Epcot, I'm going to bring my BWI mug and run over to BWI to fill up). Such a great way to save money!!!!

What a surprise that there was no mention of the "mug police" that the other poster tried to have us believe was on their response. Thanks for the real deal!

This come up all the time. My understanding is that the mugs are for the length of stay when you bought them. In practice I have never seen a CM say anything to anyone about using an old mug as long as it is for the same resort. We have WL mugs and have used them on mutiple trips without a problem. Done the same at the Poly.

Maybe we should take that email and save it to the top of this forum?! ;)

Actually I emailed Disney also and specifically asked if mugs could be reused and was the policy enforced. I got the same response each time. They will not state anything but the official policy as posted by the OP regardless of how many times you ask them. :sad2:

I received exactly the same response from Disney when I e-mailed them about a similar question. I have since e-mailed them again asking for a further clarification, since I feel my original question was not answered.

My original question was:......What if you stay at two different WDW resorts on the same trip can you use the mug you purchased at your first hotel at the next?

The official word, "your Resort for the length of your current stay" was also stated in the e-mail I received. But my response is that both resorts are my resort and it is for my current stay.
:confused3

I think the WDW policy is quite clear about using the mugs on future trips (you can not use them, period) but it does not address my question.

When we were there in January we did a split stay at WL and AKL. I told them at the AKL we had moved from the WL to AKL that day and asked if we could use the WL mugs since it was the same visit. The lady at Mara's was very nice and called somebody. She then very apologetically told us no, that the mugs were only good at the resorts they had been bought at and we would need to purchase AKL ones. Since we were only going to be there for two nights, we chose not to and simply purchased a soda.

Ah yes, the never ending debate of the refillable mugs. "Free" is a very lose term when it comes to WDW. Love the place, but I don't think we will ever see above the drink dispensers "Purchase a refillable mug for $11.95 and you may enjoy free refills for your entire life".

So, is it right or wrong? Have I ever seen a CM stop someone from refilling their drink with a resort mug...even one from a different resort? Can't say that I have. The "rules" state that the refilling of your refillable drink mug is only good for the length of your stay.

I try not to judge and point fingers at those who are stooping soooo low to use an old mug that has served its life span already. I have other, much important things to worry about.

And that's all I got to say bout that!! :earboy2:

I SO wish the DIS had a sticky thread for every official Disney policy on certain issues (5 to a room, refillable mugs, ticket for a 3 year old, line jumping, etc...) that we can refer to instead of constantly starting new debates and/or threads with these questions on Disney's policy over and over again. It's getting SO old.

The problem with a sticky thread is most people don't bother to read them before they post on these subjects.

Well, one can only dream I guess. Or maybe they could have a "Disney Policy" Board all to itself!

Now there's a good idea. Can I appoint myself Sheriff or should we hold an election?
