I am sure this has been posted before, but I cannot find in the search.

Regarding Refillable mugs:

Since they don't seem to be Resort Specific any longer, can you refill at any QS location throughout your day? If you refill, does it use a snack credit?

Anyone got any neat ways of carrying these around outside of the obvious?

Thank you

Good only at the resort at which they are purchased; I don't have any good way to carry them around because I don't carry them away from the resort.

you can fill them at any resort. They are not resort specific anymore. And we just use a cup holder on the stroller or hook them to a strap on a backpack or fanny pack. Put a napkin in the bottom of them to soak up any remaining liquid since even a drop seems to spread into a big mess somehow.

I take mine each morning filled with coffee to the parks.

Not to be disagreeable, but while the designs on the mugs are no longer resort specific, the refillable mugs are still intended to be used at the resort which they were purchased for the duration of your visit.

Not disagreeable at all but I've been told by multiple CMs to fill it at any resort. We also buy them at multiple resorts so since they don't restrict the sale of the mugs to that resort only guests then it stands to reason if I buy a mug I can fill it at any resort. When we go in a few weeks, if I buy my mug at Pop while puttering around the different resorts that doesn't restrict me in using it at the Pop when I'm not even staying there. We'll have 6 mugs that come with our meal plan so they will probably end up getting purchased at a few different resorts over the trip. I highly doubt if I ask the SSR resort manager if I need to go to Pop to fill my mug that they would say yes I do. ;)

It's the age old debate ....

Current Refillable Mug Policy:

The current official policy is that refillable mugs can only be used for free drink refills at the resort where they were purchased, for the duration of the stay in which they were purchased. The new mugs have this policy printed on them, and the policy is also clearly posted in many, if not all, of the resorts' food courts and beverage areas. The wording of the policy means that mugs purchased on previous stays should not be reused on a later trip. Many guests were told otherwise when they purchased them early in the program, but the policy has since changed.

What CM's say:

Whatever will keep the guest happy (wink wink, nudge, nudge)

You are of course free to do as you wish :)

I also have seen many people who have been told that the new ones are good at ANY resort but still ONLY during your current stay. Meaning obviously u can't come back in a month and use the same mug.

I can't imagine what the problem would be refilling a mug u paid to use for your trip at a different resort. It's not like you're going to be at other resorts a TON more than your own- and even if u were, it's soda/coffee- and you're paying a pretty penny for it.
They still make a HUGE profit on these beverages.

Yep! ;)

eta~ I'm not being snarky but the argument only comes from guests not staff so it seems like a waste of time to argue over a difference of opinion. Esp when I've asked the question directly and I'm not sneaky or underhanded about it.

Correct. in fact this is what the 2007 & 2008 YOMD mug and 2009 as the YOMD mug was still for sale in the beginning of 2009, says exactly:

Free refills available at our Resort Beverage Islands until the end of the stay in which the mug was purchased.

Which is not what the earlier mugs say. They did change the wording to reflect the new stance whenthey changed over to the universal mug design because they just don't care which resort you fill it at.

It really does not make any difference which resort you fill at...it all comes off the same balance sheet in the end...all the costs, and all the profits, from all the resorts go in on the same corporate bookeeping system...ultimately, there's one bottom line. A guest from BCV refilling their mug over at the Poly will have the same effect on the books...

You still cannot go to Electric Umbrella to fill it up but you can walk over to the BC and fill it up.

I use a caribener to hook it onto my purse or beltloop, whatever keeps it out of my way. (If I'm not using a big purse/backpack that day.)
And yes, when I'm done with my drink I stick a couple napkins in there to soak up those messy droplets.
I sometimes will pour a drink I've purchased at the parks into my mug. It keeps the frozen drinks/smoothies colder for longer, and my hand doesn't freeze holding it.
I've seen people hang them off their lanyards. I guess it's better than carrying them around.

Would someone please refresh my memory? It's been a long time since we've used a re-fillable, coffee and soda were available then, are there any other beverages that qualify? We'll probably be at a Value or an Moderate.

I don't mean to add fuel to this always burning fire, but has anyone heard that the fountian soda is donated by Coke? I read that it is all donated to Disneyland and wondered if this was true at WDW and maybe that is why they don't seem to care what kind of mugs are used. I personally like to get new mugs because I like them and use them often, but were told at our first stay that they could be brought back (this was a dozen years ago, I get things could have changed.) I didn't question it at the time because otehr places I know do this, like for example Chuck E Cheese. If you buy their refillable cups you can bring them back and fill them for free forever. I have cups w have beeen bringing back for 10 years so I never questioned the Disney ones. Like I said, I always get new mugs because I like them, but it does make you wonder?....

Way back when we used these, I was told that Coke gave the resorts fountain soda for free in exchange for having the sole right to sell their products in the parks, don't know if that's true but I've seen this kind of deal elsewhere. Also, long ago we'd bring back mugs from previous visits and re-use them. Not sure if it was 'legal' and didn't particularly care, they looked the same from year to year. In March 2001 my wife borrowed 4 Dixie Landing mugs from a co-worker and we used them at POR even though Dixie changed names to POR by then.

When I bought my dixie landing mug back in 1996 (I ran it over with my truck when I got home:) those were good for ever.

I still have my WL one from 1995. It's the big one like the yellow dixie landing one. Also good forever as was told in order for me to buy it back then.
