Refillable Mugs

Hey that's a good idea fill up the bucket in the room with ice and soda then there will be plenty to go around. Better yet the garbage cans are bigger.

True. But the trash cans get really heavy when filled with ice and soda and the ice buckets have those little lids. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Pop even has "Icees" (or whatever those frozen pop drinks are called) and you can fill your mugs with those!

Is there a DoleWhip dispenser at the POLY? If it is at the beverage station, I think he does get it free in his cup. The slushies are included for sure. The slushie works better in the bread bag than soda, it has a thicker consistency and lower density than liquid soda so no leaks. Also the ice is ground to a fine grain, where as ice cubes in the soda may have sharp edges- increasing the chances of an interior bread bag laceration. Wonder Bread bags are the thickest plastic- so I recommend those over generic bread bags.

can you tell i'm kidding? just curious. ps: the slushies really are included

Sadly, the Dole Whip machine at the Poly is not right near the beverages, but it is self serve and you can make them as big (or as small - yeah, right) as you choose.

And I saw all kinds of mugs at Pop, inlcuding non-Disney and old ones from other resorts.

I just went to allearsnet and answered my own question. Man, this is better then I thought...so does this mean we can refill it each morning with coffee?

(I was wondering how we would live without coffee in our room each morning and didn't want to have to buy it....we are staying at ASMo.)

:sad2: Do Not Drink The Coffee :faint:

It is NASTY..

I had no idea there was slushy machines and a Dole Whip machine....I need to get out more!

The slushies are at POP. And they don't always work. I've never seen them at All Star Movies, at least they didn't have them there in 2005.

Well that is good to know- I will be sure to pack my Big Gulp cup in my backpack for all-you-can swill Dole Whips when I do my annual, July 4th Poly pool-hopping day. MMMMmmmm good.

There are all kinds of abused policies in place at WDW that this board accepts as "smart planning" because WDW doesn't enforce them. For instance...

Fastpasses state that they are good from xxx time to xxx time, yet most people on this board have no problem using them past the time because the CMs allow you to.

The park policy says outside drinks or snacks are not allowed. This is not enforced at WDW (believe me it is at our local Six Flags!).

I have never seen a CM tell someone they can't use an old mug, and as someone posted earlier, a CM even said they don't enforce the mug policy. So why all the fuss over the mugs?

Like any other situation, if there is a policy in place and you choose to ignore it, then you have to face the consequence. You may not be allowed on the ride if you use an expired fastpass. You may have to trash your outside drink or snack. You may be told to buy a new mug.

Can I reuse my Blizzard Beach mug from last year? I am not trying to be a total cheapskate. I just don't see the value in acquiring more plastic when I have a perfectly good mug at home. New mugs/ cups every year just doesn't seem like a very "green" thing to do.

I won't get comical or nasty; I'll just share official WDW policy:

Well said !

Hahaha---

use it at your other home !

Oh, I am soo disappointed about the coffee!! :headache:

I NEVER would have thought I would need to bring my own coffee. Even most of the cheaper hotels around the country have decent brewed coffee.

yes, you can bring your water park mugs back and reuse them. they work a little differently as you need to pay $5 for a new bar code each day you use them. still better than purchasing new. also BB and TL mugs are acceptable at eaither water park.

and just a heads up, the Dole Whip machine at the POLY is right across from the cashier who hands you the disposable plastic shell to fill up . . .

2008 mug is identical to 2007 YOMD mug with the exception of the 2007 printed on it.

and now I return you to your highly entertaining thread. . .

Yeah but with the garbage can you only have to make one trip every couple of days making it less likely you will get caught. To make it less heavy all you need to do is take down the clothes bar from the closet, cut holes in the top of the garbage can and put the bar through them. Make sure to send your two kids and have them put the bar on one shoulder one in the back, one in the front. This way the CM's are less likely to be mean to a kid and don't forget to remind them to get straws. :rotfl:

I have to remember to get the wonder bread bag next time but then I will save less since it costs more than the generic bread, bummer. I guess it's worth the extra money so I don't leave a trail of leaking pop from the pop machine to my room so they can't track me down and make me hand over my bread bag at gun point. :worship:

Seriously, I am weird because I actually like the coffee if I mix it with a bit of hot chocolate. Then again starbucks and most of the coffees out there are way too strong for my liking.

My take on it is that if people continue to abuse the system, it will become like the refill stations in the water parks where you must scan your drink cup and it must be vaild in order for you to get the refill. IMHO this should be done then there would be no debate over it. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

This is a hilarious thread, and I really needed a laugh today. Thanks!!

I have another comment on mugs. I just came back from WDW and I bought a mug from Pizza Planet at the Hollywood studios. It's was a great souvenir and cost me only about $2.50 more than the soda pop in the standard disposable cup. Also, they give you the mug separately from the soda pop so that it is clean and easy to take home.

I am a career rule-follower and I am finding myself wanting to reuse my mugs bought in January 2008 on our trip in October 2008. I have no problem paying the price for the mugs, but I don't need 8 identical mugs floating around my house. What do you think an unsuspecting CM would do if I brought my "old" mugs from home and just offered to pay the price for the new mugs? In other words, can I just pay for the priviledge of using the same mugs for a second stay? Even the $13 price makes it totally worthwhile for us since we drink a LOT of soda so I don't have a problem paying for the drinks without the mugs.

First there are NO unsuspecting CM's at WDW

Second- you can use your old mugs in various ways

1. Pen & Pencil holder on your desk
2. Makes a great toothpaste and tootbrush holder in the bathroom
3. You have 8?? great !! set up mugs, grab a small ball and let the kids play Bowling with mugs
4. They are great to keep in the car to sneak into 7-11's and get cheap refills Just cover your mug with Mickey stickers... no one will notice
5. keeps the sun tan lotion and other liquid filled containers from rolling all around the trunk of your car and leaking all over
6. They make cute flower pots..
7. Take them to the beach to make sandcastles with..
8. re -gift- fill them with Mickey confetti and give to friends and family who haven't been to Disney.
9. Use them at Christmas- put small presents inside and no wrapping involved!!

I'm sorry -I am being bad....please don't get upset.. :goodvibes
in all seriousness I have no idea on policy about trying to pay for already bought mugs. Someone around here should know- I just know that they use wire clippers to clip off the tabs on them after they are bought so I wouldn't think you can repay for them but who knows..

:lmao:

What about #10....

10. Start a "Mug Swap" on the Dis!

(Please note the sarcasm:) ...I know that all of the swaps here are in no way in violation of any Disney policy and an unquestionable way to save $$$)

I like the re-gifting idea since I have several Disney-addicted friends who have never been able to get to WDW. Thanks for the idea!:thumbsup2
