I don't quite understand the concept of the Refillable Mugs at the Resorts. First, can you only use them at resorts, not at fast serve resturants around the world? How big are the mugs? I'm just not sure if its worth the price tag of almost $13 - are you really saving anything? How much are the drinks in the restaurants? We will be staying at POFQ for 8 days... I guess we would be getting drinks twice a day... if I had the mug maybe 3 times.... so that would be 24 drinks.... that means that each drink would be... less than .$55 - not bad actually! If we popped into another hotel to check it out and I wanted a drink there, would it be a problem?

You can use them during your stay at the resorts, but not at parks. They hold about what a medium sized soft drink would be.
If they are worth it depends on how much you will be at the rsort and using them.
I find them more useful at resorts with self serve such as Mods and AKL, etc. We don't bother at YC or BC as it is a pain to have to stand in line to refill them there. Easier to grab from a 12 pack in our fridge and bring it to the pool.
Figure about 6 drinks pays for a mug.

I drink lots of Diet Coke and they'd be worth it over a long trip, but I am taking short trips now and don't want to buy mugs. I'm better off buying bottles of Coke.

My dh and I always get the mugs. We drink coffee every morning together, than in the afternoon (if we make our way back to the resort) he will get soda and I will get ice tea and night it is coffee for me, with hot chocolate for him. So our mugs pay for themselves in just a couple days. They make great souviengers tool

I'll put it this way. At something like 2.69 per drink, you'll pay for the mug in about 5 fill-ups or so. I got one when I got to SSR on Christmas Day, and by the time I went with my parents for them to get something to eat, I'd already paid for the mug in refills, so... Yeah, I think it's worth it.

As far as other resorts, I did notice that this time it was more seasonal 2007 than resort-specific, so I'd think it would be a lot easier to "resort hop" with it, even if it's not *technically* supposedly allowed ~ though reading the disclaimer on the mug it says "Free refills available at our Resort Beverage Islands until the end of the stay in which the mug was purchased", so maybe the same resort restriction has gone away. (I also saw a family using them at Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney, which I'm almost positive was definitely bending the rules.)

Oh, and I think they're 16 oz mugs.

I think a lot depends on where you're staying. When we were at AKL and BC it was easy to pop down to the CS and refill our mugs.
But when I was at Music this month, I used my mug maybe twice - my room was all the way back in Country Fair and I *hate* carrying that mug around all day in the parks, since it's useless there. I was way too tired after a day in the parks to do another round-trip to the food court.

If you spend a lot of time at the pool, they come in very handy.

For us they were a great buy, we stayed at POR, CBR and ASMu and had breakfast there every day, DH is a huge coffee drinker and I cannot live without my ice tea. At night we went back again for a snack and a drink, I think it paid for itself after the first day.

I love having the different mugs from all the resorts, we take them with us to work every day, reminds us of all the great times we have at wdw

They were a fantastic value by the pool at CBR. The refill stations are so close to the main pool that it's worth it if you spend a lot of time there. I still use them at home for my morning coffee and drinks for some Disney magic. :goodvibes

We thought it was a great deal!!! And yes, now you can use them at the different resorts since they are generic now, at least that is what I was told.

Well, the sign says something that it's supposed to be only good at your resort for the length of your stay - but I don't think it's being enforced.

In the past I have taken a sippy cup for my yougest to the parks in our backpack. Dh and I fill our mugs before we leave the resort and put them away when we get to the park. This trip I am not packing a sippy cup. I am going to take her resort mug to the park with us and transfer her drinks to it for her to hold. Then I don't have to worry about her spilling a cup as the resort cup has a lid and a hole just right for a straw. Now I just have to decide how to best handle 4 cups at the park with only one cup holder in the stroller. I think I will take a small bungee cord and hook it through the cup handles and hang them from the stroller once they are empty. Or perhaps a carabineer clip. I have to think on that awhile.

OK - you have all convinced me - I will be getting the refillable resort mugs! As much as DH makes fun of me, I really do like to have a drink with me a t all times - ya never know when you may get thursty, and we will be bringin our stroller, so I will have a place to hold it at all times! Now I will just have to convince DH to get one too...

Are the new 2008 ones out yet?

Thanks :)

I have a big assortment of refillable mugs and I love them even now....But first off they are worth the money to us as we are morning coffee and hot cocoa drinkers......then we usually go back to the resort to swim and eat lunch...so we get more sodas or ice tea then.....and sometimes I had about three cold drinks while sitting around the pool. then after we return from the parks for the day, we get either supper or snacks and some more to drink .....
Yup worth it to us......
