How are they adding the cost onto something else, because it's a known fact they get the syrup for the drinks for free from Coca Cola and that has also been confirmed by several Cast Members.

Even if they do get the syrup for free, they are loosing revenue from the people who are stealing what they should be paying for! If Disney wanted to give the soda away for free, they would. If they wanted people to reuse mugs bought on different trips they wouldn't bother posting signs that say otherwise!

Just like any other business Disney passes on that loss of revenue to the rest of us.

They require electric to run, staff to clean and maintain them. The mugs need to be made, water is need and gas. Unless coke is giving all this free as well.:confused3

First, at $12.99 a mug Disney is making huge profits off something that costs them no more than 50c. Any loss of syrup revenue, at most a few pennies, is more than offset by the price "gouging" on the mug. Second, if Disney can "afford" free dining, surely they can afford some people reusing mugs. Third, every year park tickets go up, every year hotel prices go up, and every year the cost of the character buffets go up. Are they raising prices to make more profit, or to cover the cost of people reusing maugs, because if it is the latter millions and millions of guests must be reusing mugs.

When it comes to the staff WDW uses the Cast Members who are working in that counter service location. So it's not like they hire specific people to refill it with ice, add more syrup for the drinks and to clean it. Now when the drink machines break down I am sure WDW uses their regular maintenance Cast Members to fix them and don't hire people from Coca Cola. Basically what I am saying is since they already have Cast Members working for them they are already getting paid and WDW is not hiring outside employees for the stuff you mentioned, so they are not paying anything extra.

No, we don't reuse our mugs from previous trips. It's stealing, IMO.

No one is forcing you to buy the mug. Heck, no one is forcing you to go to Disney World. It is expensive! But just because you choose to pay for a trip to Disney World that does not give you the right to pick and choose what you want to pay for, and what you want to take without paying.

I wonder if all of these people who post that Disney should have someone guarding the soda station would go into a friend's house and take say, a pair of earrings they got as a gift. After all, the friend didn't pay for them. And if you got into their unlocked house they must not really care if you take them or not, right?

So much justification for what is petty theft, plain and simple.

Wow and someone jumped on me for saying its just as wrong to speed or not return to the store to pay for something the was missed on a shopping trip by the

Ive seen more then 1 person forget to put something up from the bottom of the cart only to over hear them mention it while packing their but not return to pay for it

We ALWAYS buy a new mug, we treat them as souveniers and each time we go there is a new mug to buy. We take tags that I make at home with each persons name, or sometimes character picture, I laminate them at home, and then bring very small zip fasteners, that solves who's mug belongs to who if we choose the same color. I would just feel odd trying to fill up something other than my newly purchased mug.

Good Point!!:thumbsup2
And the answer is.... probably not. It seems in this day and age right and wrong/black and white morals are replaced with a me oriented sense of self entitlement. Overall, the mug thing is not really a big deal, just guess I'm a follow the rules kinda person.:)

all those we are on the holier then anyone mode about stupid mugs better make sure you all turn yourselves into the police and demand they give you speeding tickets each and every time you go ever the speed limit by even 1 mile.

after all when the posted limit is 55 and you are driving 56 you're breaking the law

and don't forget those shop lifting charges if you get home and realize the cashier didn't charge you for an item in your bag because you know now you didn't pay for it even it it's that pack of gum

etc...

otherwise you are all hypocrites

Amen!!!!

i would love to see photo's taken at home of all those who stay split resorts during 1 stay

post your 6 identical mugs for a family of 4
8 for family of 4
10 for family of 5

etc.

or you could all just say you don't have to "prove it" just that we should all just believe your word for it.

I don't understand but if you don't want to pay the price for a mug why don't you just bring drinks to the resort or I am sure they sell them in a can or bottle. I am getting them with my package or else I would probably not get them as I will only be there to sleep and shower and it wouldn't be worth it to me. Of course I would buy them for my kids because they would love it as a souvenir but would probably only get a drink or two.

If it states that you can only use for your stay then it is easy to understand.

:thumbsup2

My question to those who reuse their mugs even though signage all over the place says not to - at what point do you follow the rules? How much of a penalty does it take for you to follow the rules? Or is a penalty not the stopper for you? What makes you decide the rule is important and needs to be followed? Or do you just never follow the rules? Just trying to understand.

If the price of the mug went to CMs for insurance payments or loss of wages from cutting hours, would you still reuse the mug?

What would it take for you to purchase a new mug on your next trip?

I'll start off by saying that I am a rule type of follower, thus I'm purchasing a new mug, HOWEVER, I am not perfect and probably do something else wrong. Therefore, I can agree with Kurby about alot of the nit picking being kind of hypocritical, when examples are given with the speeding, etc., That example is NO DIFFERENT than the earring example, just that one is more favored over the other. Of course no one's going to take someone's earring. Of course we all are going to go over the speed limit at least 1 mph sometime (and if you say you don't, it's just lying ).We each are accountable for our own actions. When I go on my vacation at the end of the week, I will not be upset if you stand next to me and refill your used mug, that's between you and Not me. I know what I did. Nuff said.
To all who buy new and to all who refill -

HAVE A GREAT VACATION!:thumbsup2

.

You ask the wrong question.
Ask to those who think there above the rules how they would react if is was there cola that is taken for free ore how they would react if perfect strangers came to swim in there pool for free.

Disney should go back to selling forever mugs. It would be the "green" thing to do. I'm surprised that a comapny like Disney doesnt encourage more recylcing etc....

i would gladly pay 20-30 bucks for a forever mug. though would probably forget to bring it back year to year but that would be my problem.
