Refillable mug changes

We get the mugs with the DDP and keep them for lake/beach days. I've also picked up a few from my favorite resorts and used them on my desk as pencil holder/decorations! I am also a coffee addict so having the mugs cuts down on the costs on refills in the morning.

Are all of the hotels now doing the single length-of-stay price point for the RapidFill mugs, rather than the original tiered daily pricing options? It was $16.49 when they introduced the trial scheme, but it went up to $16.99 on 19 Aug (at POR at least). Does anywhere still do the one-day, two-day, etc prices?

I have the DDP for my trip in October, so we will get the mugs. My only problem is that they are very small. Can I fill a large Tervis Tumbler with ice, then just use my mug for the actual drink? I can put my drink over ice at the table. This is especially nice if I am laying by the pool. I can't get my chill on if I have run for soda every 20 minutes!

Use but you can only fill the mug with soda once every 2-3 minutes. So it may take some time to fill your other tumbler!

Ahhh.. We got the cups with our DDP last vaca, was really hoping the change would have been leak proof tops, lol.. maybe next time ;)

We got 4 mugs during our last vacay last Fall and we paid the 3-day price. This time, we're staying for 10 days but I think we're just going to bring our water bottles as we're not big on sodas anyways. Hubby said he's fine with just regular Disney coffee cups :D I still use our mugs for my morning tea whenever I'm having one of those prolonged Disney withdrawals :hyper: Anyways, we're not getting new mugs until: 1. They come up with new designs, 2. Leak proof top!

what if you stay longer than 14 days? do you need to buy another mug?
If you're legitimately there for longer than 14 days, they will reset the mug to make sure it's valid for the entire stay. You'll need to keep your receipt.

It's only been three years since my family has been to disney... My how things have changed!!! I didn't know anything about the chip in the cup. It will not change things for us because we purchased the dinning plan. But, my family does not drink enough soda to make up for the cost if we were to buy each person one.

SAME! We aren't fans of the mugs for a few reason, the leaking being one of them. But if we get the dining plan and they are included, then we are fans. :) We were really disappointed with the chips in the regular cups. We felt like we were being nickled and dimed on a $5k vacation... SIGH but it is what it is. It gave my older teen son who is planning on going into Engineering something to focus on though. He played with the chips, covering them, trying different strategies and honestly sometimes he was able to refill sooner than he should have.

I totally get what you mean about "Nickeled and dimed" but in the same token, why do you need to refill a 16 ounce mug more frequently then every 3 minutes? Coffee/Cocoa is too hot, and Soda (imo) is too much sugar. If you are that thirsty, water is a better "Quencher".

As far as the cups "Leaking" I have not experienced this with our mugs unless the lid is not on tightly. Sometimes, however, if you drink the soda (or possibly Cocoa) you can get a build up on the rim of the mug (or lid) that makes it not seat tightly enough and it can leak while attempting to drink. Usually you can give it a good cleaning and it is back to normal. I still use my Disney mug on a regular basis (from November 2014) with no issues.

Diet soda has no sugar/ calories. :) I got frustrated with the refill time too - I like to drink one fill up quickly and refill a second time for the road. I don't stay in the QS area normally. I don't feel like standing there 3 minutes (or whatever) while I wait to refill. I want to keep moving, lol!
