Refill Mugs - Are 2008 still good??

I wonder if Disney is trying to avoid this problem by offering a mug with some of the dining plans.....although they did leave it out of the Disney recommended dining plan so I don't know never mind! :confused3

We just went in January and we had new mugs because of our DXDDP but even if it was not on our plan we would have bought anyways. I like going and getting new mugs. I can not wait to go back again in August (we are going for my dd's 3rd birthday. But she will be 3 on the last day of our trip so I won't be cheating the system! :thumbsup2 ) and get the new mugs. :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Just so you know - at Disney - you can't "officially" get older during your trip. If you are 2 when you arrive - you are free for the entire trip - if you you are 9 when you arrive - you don't have to pay the adult rate on your birthday!

Bottom line is some people are going to bring back their mugs and some people are not. It's your own business, which way you roll, and the mug police should focus on the people filling up other things besides a official disney mug. Is it really going to impact your vacation if you see someone using an older mug? I think not.

Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean it is the right thing to do. Being the good Catholic girl that I am, I would feel way too guilty refilling an old mug. That's why I will be buying a new mug when I go to WDW next week, even though I will only be there for 3 days. However, I also don't judge others. If their conscience doesn't bother them then I surely am not going to worry about what they are doing.

I can't believe all of these posts about refillable mugs. The rules are the rules and everyone should follow them, period.

Thank goodness they don't have a rule about me filling up my plastic containers and bags when we eat at the buffets. One paid meal and I can eat for three or four days. :thumbsup2

I didn't know you could take food from the buffets!!

 What a great idea!! Thanks.

Hey - let's start a new thread:

How many ways can you skin the MOUSE!!

1. Re-using re-fillable mugs.
2. share a PHOTOPASS (disboards has tons of links for this)
3. Take food from the buffet.
4.

]

Ohhh now that's a GREAT idea....since there are stroller swaps, fridge swaps...and photo pass shares....

How about starting a cup share LMBO

Someone can buy a few of the new resort cups...and when the leave they can pass them on to the next DISer...I mean you re-use restaurant glasses...so what would be the big deal... I mean since technically the mug never left the resort it would still be on its "original" visit... :cool1:

Just for the record, for those people planning on using their mugs at multiple resorts, the new mugs have a change in policy on them.

"Refills available at no additional charge at Resort Beverage Islands located in the resort that this mug was purchased through the end of your resort stay."

Yeah I know! :) I was just saying!

Anyone know if they have the new mugs at Wilderness Lodge yet?

Disney is aware their not enforcing their policy and tell their CM not to do anything. The signs are there to keep honest people honest and that is it. Disney is laid back as they want to make people happy within reason. Anything Disney does or provides is subject to the standard legal disclaimer...subject to change with or without notice. Disney offers nothing forever...

Guest know their abusing the policy too. Disney covers the cost by charging guest higher rates for other items and services...Disney covers all of its expenses...after all...many people are to wrapped up in the 'magic' they forget Disney is a business.

This is what all our cups purchased since 2003 say;

"Refillable only at location purchased"
"Free refills until the end of your stay"

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

The "Souvenir Mug" program at Walt Disney World Resorts allow you to
refill beverages (including hot coffee & tea) at your Resort for the
length of your current stay. Please note that this program is for your
Resort only. It is not extended for refills at other Walt Disney World
Resorts or Theme Parks.

I just wished they get rid of the whole filthy mug system.

It horrifies me when I think of all the germs that are spread because of them. God only knows what they have been used for , if they are ever cleaned and where they come from.

I never understood why Disney allows such a horrible germ spreading system to continue.

I'm not sure that I understand the post before this one at all. How is the refillable mug policy a germ-spreading system? You refill your own mug...
anyway....

Whenever I see the Great Mug Debate threads, I always get this image in my head of the "its stealing" people standing there at the Beach Club Emporium trying to make a citizen's arrest as people walk up to the soda fountain with last year's mug. The image invariably makes me laugh out loud. So this debate is good for something ! (for me anyway)

Your own with germ covered mug and I am the one behind you ore somebody else and have to place my mug on that same spot. (just in a way of speaking not saying you are one of these persons :lmao:)

Ergo the germs just spread around like fleas on a dog.

I don't know if the person before me just lets her kid p.. in the same cup ore at home uses it to measure the dog food.

People sneeze at there cup, people don't brush there teeth ,don't wash there hands after using the bathroom and so one. :scared1:

We do get them with the DDXP but we never use them. They make a nice surprise for my niece back home.

And imagen how much of the useless threats we did not have to read :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

cool it's been at least a month since the last mug debatepopcorn::

My cm friends look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them about the argument. They told me there's no way they would stop people from using old mugs.

Exactly! The only people making any issue out of using old(er) mugs, are the people on these boards! I have done it every year. Some years we purchase mugs, and some years we don't. Either way, we bring our previous years mugs and use them just the same. Never has a cast member said a word. This is no different IMHO than the photopass share that is discussed on the Budget Board where some consider the "sharing" part stealing from Disney.

If Disney started selling penny candy in the food courts, candy that they sold for one cent each, would you take a piece or 2 without paying? Would you demonstrate to your kids that it's OK to take a piece or two without paying? And if you answer "No" to these questions, my next question is, "HOW is this any different than taking soft drinks you didn't pay for?"

Seriously, I have NEVER received an answer to this question. I'm not angry, I'm not agitated ... I'm curious.

That's a rediculous analagy! Disney probably makes millions on the mugs alone, we are not talking about some mom and pop store. Read the other post where the CM says even he would not say anything, it's rediculous. Again, there are millions of visitors who never even read these boards and do as they please regardless of what disboard members think or do. Really people, use your energy elsewhere.:rolleyes1

Obviously the difference is that some people have reported that they have asked the CM's if they can use them (old mugs) and got the ok, to me that is like the CM saying here take the candy...its on the house...not just stealing it. LMBO

Who would think such a simple question could generate 100 REPLIES in only 48 hours!!!

If nothing else, these Dis'ers are pasionate about DISNEY.

Is it OK to buy Disney pins on EBAY for 85 cents and trade them at the parks???

No reply needed.
