DH found a red spot the size of a quarter on Jasmines back. She is a bichon. It doesn't seem to bother her. I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow but was wondering if anyone has experience w/ this. The bump is smooth not bumpy.

Could it be a hot spot? We had an older Bichon with allergies and she scratched and licked and often had hot spots. They can get infected so do need to be treated.

My two dogs (cocker/poodle and Bishon/cocker) get those every once and a while, worse in the winter here. Vet told me it was skin irritation/allergy since both breeds have very sensitive skin. She had me put neosporin on it and monitor, but they went away. Good luck with your pup...

It's on her back? Can she dig, itch or chew at it? I'd bet hot spot as well if she can get to it. I have a lab who had a small hot spot, which took over his entire belly really fast! Those lickers can do some real damage. It took forever to clear it up, and I STILL have to yell at him once in a while for licking it. He almost cries when I do that. Silly dog.
A vet check sounds in order.

I have a bichon too; I have never seen that before. Bur I have known quite a few bichon owners whose dog's developed major allergies-to the point the owners had to give them shots 1x a week.
Good luck! I hope he feels better soon.
