Remember--No kids and no pets!
Cast--
Kathy, motor-home driver extraordinaire, 47
Barbara, 'kid-sister' to Kathy and author of this report, 45
Debbie, friend and co-worker, 47
Minnie, 31 foot Winnebago Minnie class C motorhome, also known as Nana's Little House
Thursday morning we slept in a little and then cooked a good breakfast. After stacking up the dishes until later, we packed our bags and headed for the bus stop. Now, to be honest, I really hate riding the bus to Typhoon Lagoon. You ride a bus to TTC, change to a TL bus, and they ride the bus right pass the FW main entrance. And coming back is even worse--multiple stops through DD when you are wet. However, at least we didn't have to wait for a bus. Anyway, we arrived at TL and got our tickets and headed in. It was big wave time, and that's what we come for, so we hurried! We intended to get a locker, but the locker line went on forever!! So we got one of those neck wallet things, and put our bag and cooler on an empty chair.
Debbie had done TL once, but had a 4-year-old with her and never got in the water deeper than her knees. I only like doing the big waves at the red line--with the water to my chin. So we waited until the waves settled down and rushed in! The water seemed cooler, but after the record-setting rain the night before I wouldn't be surprised. We got to the red line just in time to scream and get ready! WOW, I love those waves!!! What is it that makes you scream when you hear the whooooosh of that wave coming?! We came up from the first wave and Debbie was as happy as we were! We did the big waves until lunch time, and then got food. We got the barbeque sandwich meals (a little spicy) and couldn't find a table under the cover. The birds didn't attack, but did insist upon giving my cover-up a free souvenir
Oh, well, it washed out. After we ate we headed for the creek. We had to walk past two landings to find tubes, and only rode for a few minutes before we heard that Whooosh! We headed back into the water, but this time we didn't time the waves well and we got caught in shallow water. Man, your life really does flash before your eyes when you think it's over, but I kept my balance and we red-lined it in a hurry. We did the waves for another 1 1/2 hours, and then caught a bus for FW.
After we got back we headed for the comfort station and got cleaned up. After resting for a little while, we fired up the grill and cooked steaks and burgers. We also had corn-on-the-cob, baked potatoes, salad and rolls. After a great meal and a quick kitchen clean-up we headed off on our bikes. We rode all around FW (one of our favorite things to do at Disney) and then rode the exercise path to the WL. We parked our bikes by the beach and explored the lodge. We did a little pin-trading, and then hopped back on our bikes. We made it to the secret beach area just in time for the sunset (got a gorgeous photo of the lake, sunset, and Cinderella's castle and Space Mountain). After the sunset we headed over to the Campfire program. No kids this trip, so we watched for a minute and then went to the Meadow's Trading Post to shop. Found several cute kids shirts on sale for $6.99 and some toys on sale, too. I love finding things on sale at DISNEY! It always shocks everyone!! We rode a little more around FW, and then collapsed into bed. No rain today at all!
