We have an dinner ADR in early July for 1900 Park Fare, before the rehab starts. We have never been there before and thought it might be nice to try. We've done Crystal Palace twice and like it but wanted to try something different. But I've been reading so many bad things about it lately that I'm really waivering.

Should I try to cancel and schedule Crystal Palace instead? We have no interest in LTT or Chef Mickey's.

What do you think?

I can't help you with the specific place but I can say when we went in Feb. I started double guessing my ADR's due to poor reviews but I went ahead and changed one. I had Concourse steakhouse and changed to Chef Mickeys but the other ones I went ahead and kept. The places with the worst reviews were our best meals and the one I did Change Chef Mickey's although DS4 loved the Characters he didn't eat anything and we felt the food wasn't too hot so I wished I wouldn't of changed.

I guess what I am trying to say is that everyones taste are different and every place has a bad night. If 1900 has the food you like and the characters you want to see I say give it a try. If you don't like it you can always grab some popcorn or something to tide you over.

There is aslo the Garden Grill at Epcot with Mickey, Pluto and chip and dale I think. You could try it if you want a character meal. pirate:

OK! We are just back and we dined at 1900 on Easter for Dinner! It was very nice the food was very good! They had a large amount of choices. But it felt like we were rushed ! The server kept telling us wait aty your table for the characters and then he kept asking all kinds of questions about finishing etc... Maybe because of the holiday and being busy but thats the only negative I have!

You see--different strokes! We ate there on the Monday evening after Easter and absolutely did not care for it.

I was disappointed in the amount of selections for adults and did not care for the way the buffet line was set up. We did not feel rushed at all and, in fact, could not get out of there fast enough. The character interaction was good but it was just not one of our better buffet experiences (food-wise). I have never been to Crystal Palace so I cannot compare but I've always heard really good things about that place.

IMO, the Cape May Buffet at the Beach Club puts on a much better buffet; however, no characters there for dinner.

Second best buffet food at WDW...right behind Boma. Characters are good. I'm not a big fan of the high ceilings it tends to make the restaurant a little noisy. This is my DS16 favorite restaurant and he claims it is because of the food...or so he says... ...I think he has a thing for Cindy.

We love Park Fare, so much so that now it's become one of our "must do" on each vacation! It can get a bit noisy in there but not to the point that it's untolerable. The character interaction is wonderful, the food yummy and we've never felt rushed.

We went in Oct of last year for DS3 bday with a table of 10, they went out of their way to get us together and make sure he had a magical birthday. Cinderella paid extra attention to him he giggled and blushed every time they caught eyes for the rest of the night. :flower3: DD4 got to dance with Prince charming and still talks about her "special date" with him. :flower3: We'll be going back in Oct again after the rehab, I hope it's still as magical! pixiedust:

We just returned and had dinner at 1900 Park Fare Thursday night and dinner at CP Friday night. We've done PF before and thought the food was pretty good. It was about the same this time. Nothing overly spectacular but basically good. It was relatively plain, not overly spiced/seasoned, the way most buffets are but there were many choices. As with all character meals at Disney, we go to see the characters, not for gourmet dining.

CP didn't impress me quite as much. I felt the room was crowded as was the buffet line and they didn't seem to have as nice a range of choices as PF did. I also hated that they kept interrupting the tables who were meeting with the characters to do some silly parade around the restaurant. It would be nice if they had an actual set time to do it so they didn't have to drag Pooh away when he was trying to sign an autograph and then make the kid wait while they took a break and then come back to take a picture. This happened to us and it was very frustrating because we had been finished with our meal for a good 10 minutes before we even caught sight of Pooh. Then when he finally made it to our table, DD was so excited that she handed him her autograh book and as he was trying to sign it the music started playing and the handler told him he had to leave. DD was bummin because she thought she wouldn't get a pic with him. The handler then said that they had to go take a break and she would bring Pooh back to her first. That was all well and good, but if that parade hadn't interrupted our meeting with him we could have gotten the autograph and the picture and been out of there. Plus, they could have seated someone else at our table during the extra 25 minutes we were stuck there.

But, this is just my opinion. I have read both great and horrible reviews about most of the restaurants! Like someone else said, if the menu looks appetizing to you, then go for it. I usually eat the same kinds of things at the buffets and they pretty much are all on par with one another with a few exceptions. You can always get a salad (which I always do, that way if I am not really impressed with anything else I have still filled up on something an added plus at PF was that they had spring mix instead of iceberg lettuce. A huge plus for me, not so much for DH and DD!); I usually try the pasta dish (equally good at PF--tri color tortellini and CP--penne with chick and mushrooms); I got salmon at both places (PF was better than CP but I also had it in the lounge at BC and that was the best!); Some sort of chicken dish (CP's was moroccan spiced and mostly dark meat. I had to search for a piece of white meat. I don't remember exactly what PF's chicken dish was, but I do know it was tasty); I had prime rib(pretty mediocre at both--I would skip it);CP had some delicious green beans on the kid's side, cooked perfectly! and I tasted their chicken strips which were pretty good also; CP had a banana bread pudding that DH said was good and the soft serve at both was tasty!

Have fun whichever you decide to do !

Thanks for the replies. I feel a bit better now. I think I'll stick with what I have.

Goofy22, we were there for Easter dinner as well! It was my DD9 birthday and we had a great time. Food was good, characters came by pretty fast. They brought her out a cupcake and sang to her - it was really nice. We also ate at CP on Wed. and loved the atmosphere, but kids did not care for the food at all. So, I would give it a try - you can't always go by what others say. We also ate a Sci-Fi which is always getting bad reviews here and we loved it! Have a great trip!

I've done both 2 times each and much prefer 1900 Park Fare. And besides, Crystal Palace doesn't have Strawberry Soup!!!

We are frequent visitors to CP and thought just like you - we wanted to try 1900 PF. Well, I'm glad we did it. We enjoyed it to a degree. We will probably go back to CP b4 1900, but that was just us (we have a DS, not DD, so characters were not that great for us). The food is pretty comparable, atmosphere at 1900 is a little less hustle-bustle, but not really "intimate" or anything. It's a nice outing to walk around GF and have a change of pace.
