I am currently rethinking my meal plans I have made, and am wondering if you would be able to suggest somewhere to eat lunch in DCA. We have not eaten everywhere there yet, but do know we dont care for Pizza Om Mow Wow or Ariels Grotto. And of course, we dont need any McDonald either, even though I know it will be gone by the time we get there!!

Right now I have Wine Country Trattoria planned, but I think I have too many higher priced meals planned. We are going to be eating breakfast at Carnation Cafe that same morning, unless I decide to skip that, do lunch at WCT, and have lunch another day (or breakfast) at Carnation Cafe. WDYT??

The Pacific Wharf Cafe is your best bet and a good value for the money. Soups, salads, and sandwiches - all with that famous SF Sourdough bread! I love the salads and we always ask them to put the bread bowls on the side, so they are dry and can be used as snacks later (often during the parade or the drive back home, since we're local). I ask for butter packets, so we can butter them fresh for the snacking experience!

Taste Pilots does have other stuff besides burgers, but mostly burgers. Avoid the Bountiful Farmer's Market chicken strip meals and the Mexican food place across from PWC - they are definitely not a good value for the money or the palate. We had buyer's remorse with the chicken and watched friends have it with the Mexican food.

Definitely get a shake at the San Andreas shop by Bountiful Farm - if they are open. The date are the best, but the Oreo is pretty tasty, too.

I second Pacific Wharf Cafe. They make great soups and salads in delicious bread bowls.

Also, I know a lot of people love White Water Snacks in GCH. Just exit through the entrance near Grizzly River Rapids

We are having dinner at WWS that night. I forgot about PWC, I have only been there for breakfast, and I am interested in trying that for lunch. What does their kids menu look like. My oldest is extremly picky.

Also Taste Pilot's Grill is good and quite inexpensive! They have a big toppings bar. If you want a snacky type lunch or if you have a bigger breakfast, Corn Dog Castle is fun too.

Check out the menus on allears.net here. Most of the menus are current and include pricing, so you can get an idea of what the costs and options are.

We love White Water Snacks. It is near the GCH exit. Everytime we went it was uncrowded and a great value.

We got a chicken sandwhich at Taste Pilot- served on a hamburger bun, standard toppings available, small chicken, tiny amount of fries.

We got a chicken sanwhich at WW Snacks- served on a hamburger bun, standard toppings AND guacamole and a cooked mild chili pepper, large piece of chicken, huge amount of fries, and three strawberries.

The price was about the same. We could easily split the one at WW Snacks and both be full. They also have cereal, juice boxes, milk, hamburgers, nachos, desserts, and many other things.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it closed at 7pm.

Has anyone eaten at the place that serves the nachos inside DCA? I think it's called Between Takes but I've also seen it listed as a cart/vendor. It's near Bug's Land/Hollywood area. Any good? Good value for the money??

We've only ate at the counter service type place across from Playhouse Disney Live. The boys always get hot dogs (I don't recall there being much else on the menu.) I know I've tried the breadbowl at Pacific on our first family trip, but don't remember it much. Someone on this board posted a pic of the Mexican restaurant food they got in CA, but I cannot remember the name. Maybe Cuchamungo? Anyway, it looked very good. I have also heard terrible things about Ariel's, so we will never go there.

If the Cove Bar is open, they serve lobster nachos and bbq chicken pizza, both of which I really like.

We have enjoyed Pacific Wharf Cafe (vegetarian chili), Cocina Cucamonga (vegetarian platter of some sort to share, and the kid's meal bean/cheese burrito), and the artichoke dip at Cove Bar. I enjoyed the caprese sandwich at the Trattoria. And words cannot describe how good the breakfast options at WWS were (we had them leave the meat out).

I recently read that the hot dog place has added a veggie option, so we'll likely try that (at least one of us) next time we're there.

We also enjoy simple treats from the burrr bank bakery, though we did NOT like the ice cream sundaes at the nearby ice cream place. Was tasteless and unexciting to us.

I really like the hot dogs at Award Weiners. The chili cheese dogs are my fave. I also like the corndogs from the Corn Dog Castle. When I get clam chowder from Pacific Warf Cafe, I usually never finish the bread bowl so I feed it to the hungry ducks. :) I usually only eat snacks at DCA, I personally think that they need more good dining areas like DL.

This is exactly why I started this thread. We have eaten at several places there, just not really excited about them as we are in DL. The breakfast at PWC was ok, never been there for lunch, although I think I am going to try it. We do like Cocina Cucamonga, but we want something different. Taste Pilots Grill does not really appeal to me, although DH loves it (he loves :lovestruc burgers). I hated Pizza Om Mow Wow or whatever it is called, I dont need McDonalds while in the parks, especially at double the price.

I have never been to Award Weiners or Farmers Market. How is Farmers Market?? I looked at the menus, and was a bit surprised and disappointed that PWC only offers PB&J sandwichs for kids, while Farmers Marker offers that and nuggets.

Didnt there used to be a place called Bountiful Valley Farms you could eat at? Or maybe that is where Farmers Market is:confused3 . Or didnt there used to be a little place in Hollywood Backlot, kinda back behind Monsters Inc? What happened to those?? And didnt there used to be a soap opera restuarant somewhere in the Hollywood area? What ever happened to that?

There was a soap opera restaurant in the Hollywood area. My sis and I ate there in 2001 but it's been closed for awhile now. Ever since they re-did that area and added TOT. It was expensive and not to exciting, was a little bummed by the whole experience.:sad2:

I'm trying to find some good place to eat in DCA as well. I've got very picky eaters and I'm hoping to find that place that serves the nachos, I think DH will like it and it doesn't cost a freakin fortune! I've heard it's in the Hollywood area and may be called Between Takes but no one seems to have heard of it??:confused3

Between Takes!! That is what the place was called I was thinking about. I think they are gone. They used to serve nachos at Cocina Cucamonga, but they no longer serve them. My oldest DS is also a picky eater, and loved the nachos. He was disappointed when we found that out, but he tried their chicken tacos (just chicken on a tortilla with cheese) and he actually really enjoyed it.

The only place I can think of now that serves nachos now is Tortilla Joes in DTD.

Bumbershoot...I've heard the same thing! There's even a pic of the nachos from WWS on the food thread, they look so good! However, I highly doubt I'm going to get DH out of the parks and then back in. Back in is the problem.:rolleyes1 Thus, I'm trying not to leave midday, otherwise, I'll never get him back in!

I was really hoping that nacho place was still there! Oh well, maybe someone will make my day and say that just ate there! Here's to wishful thinking!!;)

We love Taste Pilots Grill...they have more than just burgers. We had the ribs and the chicken sandwiches when we were there and thought they were VERY tasty!! Definitely one our faves inside DCA.

They also serve the nachos at Crocs Bits N Bites inside the DLH. I was just looking over their menu and my son got all excitied!! I would bet they are the same ones as in WWS in GCH.

From what I recall, they are. Oddly enough, it's one of our highlights of staying at DLH. One bonus is they stay open late, I've had the nachos after the park closed, late at night.
