Recommendations for face masks at WDW?

Hi all -

I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum but wasn't sure where it best fit.

I used to consider us WDW experts: AP holders, DVC owners, loved FP+, multiple trips but I joined the DisBoards because we haven't been since fall 2019 and so much has changed that I need help catching up.

Without getting into any debates of policy or mask mandates, can people suggest their best "Florida friendly" face mask for park use? We don't live somewhere with the heat and humidity of Florida and are looking to purchase a bunch of masks that will function well for us in the heat, that are easily washed, and ideally with quick drying material. The options are overwhelming to say the least on sites like Amazon.

So, favorite face masks for Florida type weather???

thanks in advance!

I like the vista print masks. They fit well, are cool and lightweight, wash well, and you can put a filter in them if you want.

I recommend something that will actually give you some protection, I'd go with KN95 masks. The are not easily washed, but should be inexpensive enough now to just change them out when they get wet. If you're a Costco member you can usually get them in a box of 100 for .60 a piece online.

Pale blue throw away tissue like surgical masks (but they don't really stop anything, if its comfort and the "sign" of wearing a mask). If you want something that actually work a little better ,I ended up using a KN95 mask that is like filter paper almost (the ones you can buy at the airport) and threw them away each day. I also bought the cloth WDW Mickey Mouse ones last year, I thought they looked really cute. But they were very uncomfortable on (felt like polyester) and were not very breathable. Hope that helps.

Good call. If it’s protection you want the N95 is the only way to go.

Thanks all! Good call on the KN95 - I just assumed it would be too hard to find them in bulk: we’ll be there for 9 days and need enough for all of us. They really weren’t on my radar as possible!!

I think the kf94's out of Korea are "decent" for some protection. I think they are a little easier to wear than the kn95's. Less data in the US about effectiveness to rely on admittedly.

But for just Florida friendly in terms of weather - the cheap, blue disposal surgical masks are the best I've found for the heat around me (which has been miserable due to heat waves this summer.)

We tried the cloth masks the kids used while in school and it was way to hot. Double layer disposables all around, we changed them out at mid-day break. Amazon has them in bulk...i got 50 kids size ones for less than $20. Came in a variety of colors and shipped quickly. And invest in some cheap mask lanyards so you aren't shoving them in pockets etc. We would flip them to the side or back when doing photopass photos so they weren't front and center in our "nice" pictures.

I buy the Powecom KN95 from Bonafide Masks. They're very reasonably priced. The mask is on the smaller size, so you might want to buy a pack and check the fit. They fit me really well, but they're too small for my dad. That brand was on the FDA emergency use list and there's also a You Tuber who tested a bunch of mask brands and they tested well. So I think they do give you an added layer on protection. They are not as breathable as cloth masks (trade off for the protection), but the shape means it doesn't rest on your face like most cloth masks, so that's a plus. I was able to wear them all day at Disney (back when you had to wear masks indoors and outdoors), but feel like I was just sufficiently distracted by being at Disney to notice any discomfort :-)

BOTN KF94 from Be Healthy was recommended to me as more comfortable than the KN95 and they come in different sizes. Mine are on the way, so I haven't tested them yet.

My family loves Electric Styles. It’s lightweight and fairly comfortable. You can insert a filter which we do for things like airplane rides. I teach all day in one in AZ And even outside, it’s not too bad.

Thank you everyone for your feedback and suggestions - this information has helped me narrow down my search parameters and to buy/to try list!

We have been twice and worn kn95 masks both times. They have a metal bar that lets you bend to fit your face.

We just got back and did the KN95 masks. We purchased them on Amazon. It was *very* hot when we were there so any mask made our faces sweat but we liked how these don't suck in when you talk/breathe and we felt they were a little better protection than the cloth masks because they seal up on the sides a bit more. They also sat pretty well with my glasses which can be a struggle!

That's where I've been buying mine, they are a reliable source and their masks are on the approved list.

Do you happen to know which ones you purchased on Amazon? We bought a batch of KN95s from amazon and they were super uncomfortable. Or how did you pick which ones to get?

I've been buying these from Bonafide masks, they come in white and black; I find them comfortable, and they seal better than the surgical ones. They come in several sizes. Code STAYSAFE7 will give you 7% off, and it's free shipping.
