Recommendations for deluxe resort?

My DH and I are coming to the world in January 2009 and he wants to stay at a Deluxe resort. He watched the planning dvd and says he's interested in the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, The Contemporary, and Beach Club.

Obviously the first three have the advantage of the monorail and the last has the proximity to Epcot and DHS.

He's here for the golf and I'm going to hit the parks everyday solo. We like fine dining and want to eat at Victoria and Albert's, California Grill, etc.

We probably are not going to spring for a great view (theme park etc) and we are not pool-people so Stormalong Bay (in January) isn't a big selling point for us.

Any recommendations?

I have never stayed at any of the resorts you mention, but, you say you will be doing the parks solo...then I would stay at a monorail resort.......then you are close to the parks with easy access to that as well as to VA & Cali Grill. Plus, the monorail goes to Epcot and you would only have to bus it to DHS and AK. Just my initial reaction to the post??

my favorite hotel is the GF, so obviousyl that would be my choice, but it also makes sense. there is golf right behind the GF, you are at the hotel with V & A (and narcoossees, my favorite!) and on the monorail which is so convinent, and you can book a theme park view. also you oculd treat yourself to some time at the GF spa!

sounds like you want to near mg with the monorail. poly has a lot of walking to the rooms if you are not near or in the main part. all are so pretty except for the cont. think you would like the poly. good luck enjoy.

My choice would be the Poly :dance3:. We love the tropical surroundings and the overall feel of the resort ::yes::. I say look at the theme of each resort and go with the one that is more to your liking. You will have a great trip regardless of which resort you choose as they are all nice resorts :goodvibes. Good luck with your decision :cutie:.

Of the resorts you listed I've stayed at the Poly and the Beach Club and really liked the Beach Club better! I actually wanted to stay at the Poly on our last trip, but it was full and I ended up being glad. The BC staff was excellent, the pool is great (even if you don't use it, lol), we enjoyed the movies on the beach at night, and the location is fantastic. I loved being able to walk to EPCOT, DHS is a short boat ride away, and bus rides were pretty short to the MK and AK. I still want to try the GF though.;)

GF for the luxury and the great restaurants in the resort, with Poly a close second.

It mostly depends on what you want in a resort and from the little that I read I think GF would match you two well. That way your DH is near golfing and you can get to the parks quickly. Make sure you let us know what you choose.
