My husband and I are planning our first trip to WDW together and we're trying to decide where to stay. I think we've been leaning towards POFQ, but was wondering if this is a good choice for us.

We're in our mid-30's, although we sometimes act like we're about 10. :Pinkbounc (Nothing destructive. We just like to have fun. ) My husband is probably most attracted to the water slide. (Can adults even use the water slide?)

Do you think the POFQ is the right resort for us? Do you have any recommendations? Comments? Pros? Cons?

C'mon...share your opinion. You know you want to. :goodvibes

Glad I re-read that.

As for what to do, take advantage of your kidlessness. I'd pick the resort you felt was most relaxing. Get park hopper plus tix that let you go to the water parks. If DH likes water slides, no better place than Blizzard Beach.

Enjoy a romantic dinner. :love2: Casual late night walks in the parks. Pick a day or two where you just go park crazy. :cool1:

The opportunities are limitless for you. Also check out allears.net. They have some neat sections on what to do if it's just the two of you.

I think POFQ is perfect, unless you plan on spending more time at the resort than at the parks. If you will be spending the bulk of the time at the resort, then you may want to stay at one of the deluxes. But if you'll be in the parks most of the time, save your money and have fun at POFQ. And yes, adults can (and do!) use the water slide!

My boyfriend and I are both almost thirty (28) and last year we stayed a PoFQ we loved it there were kids around (of course it is disney) but because of its smaller size it was NEVER crowded!

There are a ton of romantic things to do...take a stroll on the river then hope a boat to DTD for a drink! Take the boat to PoR and rent surrey bikes...it's alot of fun!!! Make sure you try for a king room on the river!

Thanks for the info. Hubby will be happy to know that he can use the slides. And I know he's looking forward to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. They weren't there last time he was at Disney...about 25 years ago.

We do plan on spending the majority of time at the parks. He's excited about the extra hours so I told him we're going to have to nap during the day. Normally he's up at 4am (sometimes 3am) and we're in bed by 9pm...but for Disney, I suspect he'll adjust his sleeping schedule so he can stay out late and enjoy the parks.

Hubby and I are in our early 30's. We stayed at the POFQ a few years back with 2 other friends in their 30's and we LOVED it!

I think it would be a great resort for you guys to stay at, my hubby and I loved the waterslide as well! (= The resort can be fun and romantic at the same time. I totally agree with what everyone else has already posted.

It's a great resort and the nice thing is that it isin't too big.
During our last trip we stayed at CBR, while that was also a great resort, we didn't feel that we enjoyed it as much as we did POFQ. CBR was just way too big for us.

Let us know what you end up going with! :earboy2:

POFQ is lovely, and you could take advantage of the amenities (e.g., boat rentals) at neighboring POR, as well as the boats to DTD. BUT, in your shoes I would try to find a way to stay in the Epcot resort area. You can walk a lot at PO, and it is pristine and beautiful there, but there's nowhere to GO, and you're totally reliant on the bus or boat or a car to get anywhere. For a kid-at-heart adults' trip, I would choose an Epcot resort or maybe the Poly. Since you're probably choosing a moderate to save money, I'd look into renting someone's DVC points for a studio at BCV or BWV, or getting a discounted room at the Dolphin or Swan. JMHO. But if you have to go moderate, POFQ is an excellent choice, and the one I would choose. Be aware that the food court there is tiny relative to the one at POR.

While the slide at POFQ is open to adults it is very small (even very small kids enjoy this. It is very well themed my DS loved it (shaped like a dragon the tongue is the slide). If your DH enjoys waterslides I don't think this is the one for you. However, the hot tub is separate from the pool area and that would be nice as it has fewer kids jumping in and out. One of the nice things about POFQ is that you can use POR pool too and that waterslide is larger.

If you do a search there was a thread awhile back about the slides at the resorts. BC is always first and then it was a variety of opinions from there.

Good luck making your decision!

I really must learn some more abbreviations! ;)

You guys sound like us! We are late 20's and spent Oct 04 in WDW (DH's first WDW vacation ever!).

We stayed one night at POFQ and 5 nights at BCV (we rented DVC points from a fellow owner for $600). I enjoyed both resorts, but prefer BCV b/c of the location and amenities. Its a walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk and a boat ride to MGM. We bussed to MK, AK and DTD.

If you like to have cocktails in the evening, you can't go wrong with either resort. For POFQ, its a simple boat ride to DTD & PI and a bus ride to Epcot & the BW.

I wrote all about our galavanting (aka grubbin' & boozin' :teeth: ) in my trip report (link in siggie). It will give you some good info on both resorts. Have fun and PM me with any questions about renting points.

Anyone who'd recommend the CBR over POFQ? My husband and I were married in Jamaica last year, so we had also given some thought to CBR simply so we could "go back to Jamaica" at Disney.

:teeth: Kelleigh I will most DEFINITELY recommend the CBR over the POFQ. Im so surprised no one else has yet! My reason is that while the POFQ is great, the CBR is AMAZING! Just think, you can take the boats out on the lake or grab some bikes and go crazy along the trails wrapping around the lake. And the hammock fights are great (AKA both of you trying to take up the room in the hammock, my husband and I do that and one of us always winds up in the sand!) The atmosphere is MUCH more festive there than at the POFQ. I'm 23 and thats my favorite resort, over the GF, over all the other deluxes and moderates, etc. And the reason it's my favorite is because of the festive environment. First, the buildings are insanely colored! It's pleasing to the eyes and yet fun to look at! The POFQ I think may have a better main pool but the CBR has a food court and main building that the POFQ can envy I think. It's like walking into a market in the actual Caribbean! Or at least like some of the markets in the Caribbean that I have been to. :) The rooms are a lot more brightly colored there as well so to me it just seems "happier." But what else cracks me up is that the last time we were there DUCKS swam in one of the quiet pools with us! That was great too! :) My parents are also like big kids and this happens to be their favorite as well. :teeth: :earseek:  :bounce: :cool1: :rotfl2:

My DH and I stayed there in February and really enjoyed it. We thought it was a great value and particularly delighted in the night time carriage ride. I completely disagree with the post saying there is nowhere to go. The boat ride to DTD was relaxing and easy. We are Disney Quest annual pass holders and we take full advantage of those passes when we stay at POFQ because it is so easy to get to DTD. We've stayed at AKL, CR and BWV as well but we've decided that unless we really want to spend our time at the resort (like we plan to on our quick trip to AKL in May) we'll stay at POFQ. Just a note of warning though, the beds are small unless you get a King. If that's an issue make sure you have that King bed reserved.

Personally IMHO I would recommend PoFQ over CBR! CBR is sooooo spread out their is never a intimate feal..altough the hammocks on the beach are nice for hanging out. PoFQ is a small size so it is never really crowded, you can take a walk on the river and be the only one, the boat to PoR and DTD rocks...This is JMHO and some do perfer CBR it is a matter of what you want out of the resort and what theming you perfer!

I think you would really enjoy CBR as much as POFQ, while CBR might have a more laid back feel to it even than POFQ.

The atmosphere at CBR is tropical and playful, colorful, and lots of places to have fun. The atmosphere is very island-like with the calypso music playing in the background

:rockband:

...of course, you have to like that theme, but to me, it is more "young at heart" than POFQ.

If you are into deluxes, I am not sure which would be the most fun and festive....probably the Boardwalk. They have music/games on the lawn, the Boardwalk atmosphere, and, of course, the silly clown slide! (or scary, as some may say!)
