Recommendations for 7 mile beach

Any particular part of 7 Mile Beach in Cayman that you liked better? Can you rent chairs anywhere? Would be nice to have somewhere close to restrooms and maybe food options. Thanks

Having spent a week in Grand Cayman, 7 mile beach is mostly resorts and condos, and the open beaches don't have food/restrooms of the spots I visited. I have read, however, that the resort beaches are open to non guests. The Marriott has a restaurant and bathrooms right off the beach area. I would look into the resorts. There is also Rum Point which isn't on seven mile beach, but has a nice inlet of calm water with beach chairs out, and a bar and grill onsite along with restrooms and showers. It's a fun little area.

3 years ago we took the public bus to Public Beach and rented chairs and umbrellas from a bar/beach club that was there. I don't remember the name of it and I'm not sure I knew the name of the place at the time. However, the beach was great, the food and drinks were reasonable and they had a dj playing music. It was fun and inexpensive day at the beach.

I remember it was next to Tiki Beach bar/restaurant that also rented chairs and umbrellas. They have a nice page on FB you can look at.

I just wonder about the crowds returning to the tender area... how bad is traffic getting back there, and how early do you have to leave the beach to make sure you don't miss your cruise ship?

Not cruise specific, but when we stayed on the island, we went into Georgetown when the cruises were in port and traffic was never bad. I'm sure there would be an influx right close to return times, but we were shocked that it wasn't so backed up in that area. There was a lot of people walking around the shops but car traffic was nothing. Of course it was a ghost town without the cruise ships on non port stop days. The island is really small and doesn't seem to take long to get anywhere by car. Boat rides out on excursions of course would be different.

We had, after research, planned to go to Tiki Beach. The timing didn't work out but we took the "duck" tour that let us see that there were all sorts of options for fun beach spots, and there was no shortage of places to rent chairs and an umbrella.

From what I recall the whole beach is open even if it's in front of a resort. But you can't freely use chairs. Gotta rent those or just sit on the sand.

Correct. I am the type of person who prefers to read, read, read before I post. If I do not see my question, THEN I post a question. As an avid forum user on many, many sites, duplicate posts really annoy me. If, however, I see someone post the exact question I have, rather than create a duplicate post, I just reply to that post, which brings it to the top of the list. This does three things. First, by showing that more than one person wants to know the answer to that question, it may spur people to post a reply. Second, the original poster may see that their question has been replied to, and they may respond that they had already found an answer (and forgot to reply to their original post). Third, search engines have already indexed the question (probably), so posting a reply will help people find their answers quickly.

So, yes, I had not posted anything yet- just this one post. BUT- don't worry. There is many, many more posts to come. I have to get my post count up anyway (so I can change my avatar). That's a pretty annoying feature of this forum, by the way.

It would be a lot more annoying without the feature. It's a security measure to make sure that new members are not actually spambots.

Was it Calico Jacks? We went to Public Beach as well and that's the place we rented chairs from.

Went last year and it was nice. DCL and one other ship was there. This time there were like 5 other ships docked and Public Beach was a little too crowded for us to really enjoy.

Even though the port was kind of crowded we had no trouble with traffic. Got a bus easily and made it back to do some shopping.

mmm... I disagree. I ran a phpBB site once. The spambot filter was pretty good, and I only had one get through (forgot to turn on the "auto update" feature). I would think that after I pass the captcha test, I should be able to put up a silly picture for my avatar. Otherwise, you get a lot of low-quality posts by new users (like this one). lol

Royal Palms. $2 to get in, $4PP minibus taxi ride, $5 chairs/umbrellas. Can get crowded. We have used them 3X. Last time 2015. We took our own sand toys for kids. Decent bathrooms, outdoor showers. You can rent beach cabanas for 6 persons for about $100. Contact them in advance for cabana. Pool cabanas were $50 food minimum in 2015.

We did Royal Palms. We rented a cabana ahead of time. It was fine but was pretty crowded to try and get into the water. We had a couple groups of early 20's ladies partying it up and attracting lots of male attention by twerking in their bikinis. The atmosphere wasn't as kid friendly as I would have liked. The cab driver was giving us a hard time saying that the public beach is nicer and cheaper, but we had already paid. The food and drinks were decent but expensive. Restrooms were okay.

If we get back to Grand Cayman, we will try the public beach.

No trouble with traffic getting back to the port. The biggest issue I could see is that the taxis try to wait until they are full before leaving. That could cause a delay.

Royal Palms - sounds great. And it probably is for adults. I know there's a pool there (yes, there are people who really don't like sand everywhere). The pool is adult only, FWIW.

Now I see. You were bumping up this thread to get the question answered.

I didn't notice how old the question was, and thought you were just replying to them and saying that you had also had this question but no one had replied to *yours*. Sometimes people think they posted something but they didn't, and I thought that's what had happened to you. Was trying to help you solve The Mystery of the Unposted Question.

But now I see more. I was likely on my mobile when answering and didn't see the fullness of the situation.
