In the moderate category, which resort would you personally choose, and why?

Thank you!

We loved POFQ. It is compact and a short walk to Riverside. We really liked the theming and found it quiet even though it was 4 years ago during Thanksgiving Week. It is always the first stop when buses are shared. We also liked the boat to Disney Springs.

POFQ for it's small size, quaint streets, theming, dedicated bus service during peak times, and boat to DTD. :)

For a mod we'd pick CSR, stayed there many times and liked it a lot. The grounds are beautiful, and we found the rooms comfortable. I'll add that we always had a rental car, so we did not rely on WDW transportation, nor did we have any need to make multiple visits to El Centro (some complain that it's a long haul from some of the buildings to the main building where the restaurants are.)

We've stayed at all of them multiple times, and now it basically comes down to eliminating the one we stayed at last (we like a little variety), checking for the best deals, and then flipping a coin. All of them are beautifully themed, with lovely landscaping. POFQ is the most compact, so it would probably go to the top of our list for that reason alone. But we also really love the ambiance of CBR. We only stay at CSR if Business Class is possible. POR is usually at the bottom of our list.

For us it is POFQ. We love the theme, the fact you can walk up to POR to use their pools, eat at Boatwright's or visit the River Roost . We enjoy going to Disney Springs so the boat ride is a great plus. OP you didn't give any info about your party . We are 2 middle age adults so would works for us or any other prior poster might not be for you. That said if you have young children the slide at POFQ is good. Also we always use buses to go the parks, even when we had a car. We used taxis on the last trip to get to/from a few ADRs at resorts but the cost was much less the price of a rental.

OP here: Our party consists of my husband and I, our six-year old daughter, and my husband's parents (mid 60's). We will book two rooms.

We stayed at Pop Century two years ago, and while we enjoyed the resort itself, it seemed a bit far from all the parks. So, therefore, ease of transportation is now a priority for us.

A few years ago I would have said POFQ for its size and charm. But that was before we stayed at POR in 2012. Now I love POR!!! Love coming "home" there after time spent in the parks. It's beautiful and peaceful. Love walking by the river at night. Great food court. Boat to Disney Springs. Yehaa Bob Jackson in the lounge. We stayed in a Royal Room which was charming, but I'm also looking forward to trying an Alligator Bayou room sometime also. It's a large resort so I think I would like to reserve a preferred room in AB or possibly a pool view room in Oak Manor to be closer to the main area.

The bus to MK, Epcot and DHS were quick rides for us. AK took some time but it isn't a priority for us so no big deal. Sometimes POFQ and POR shares buses but it has been usually during off peak times on our last 3 trips. In fact our buses to/ from MK and DHS last month didn't share except for a 6:50 am bus to MK.As for Epcot when we went in the morning or left near closing we didn't share, it was only coming or going in the afternnon/ early evening that we shared.

For moderate, I'm also a POFQ. I don't like long walks around the resort and that's the only compact resort WDW has to offer. POR is also walking distance if you want to change it up and get the whole new orleans theme feel or use their restaurants/shopping.

Our fav moderate is POR. Beautiful resort, we prefer the mansion section. And request a location close to Old Man Island foot bridge. It's a central location close to main amenities and we prefer the bus stop behind the mansion building, either the north or east depot. Much less crowded and chaotic than the main depot.

POR is charming and has a little more to offer, the boat to DTD, fun evening entertainment in River Roost lounge, carriage rides, and central location for parks. The landscaping is beautiful, love strolling along the river path.

Our favorite Moderate is CBR. We just love the laid back relaxed atmosphere there. It is such a nice change of pace from the craziness of the parks. We love the food court layout and selections and the Main Feature Pool is great. Every village has its own leisure pool and bus stop so you are never far from one. And over the last few years the TS Restaurant, Shutters, has become a hidden gem. You can't go wrong with any of the Moderates, but we just happen to love CBR. Ever since having to stay there for Free Dining years ago, we haven't been able to stay anywhere else.

When my kids were young we selected CBR and the choice was perfect. They enjoyed the colorful buildings, both the main and quiet pools and the food court.

As they got older we reserved at Dixie Landings, now Port Orleans Riverside. We all enjoyed the atmosphere so much and it is now our favorite resort. Have never used the main pool but the quiet pools are marvelous! We have always been in Alligator Bayou buildings and they feel like home. The food selections at the food court are wonderful. We also love the boat to DS. There is nothing to scream DISNEY here and we like being away from the parks in this environment!! Trees!!!

Agreed. I love the size of POFQ and how easy it is to get to the food court, bus stop, and DTD boat. And the fact that there is only one bus stop, so you aren't wasting time circling around the resort for other stops.

We really waffled between POR and POFQ. We ended up with POR largely because discounts often exclude POFQ and we were booking before we knew what would be offered. Neither of the other two appealed to us as far as theming but I'm sure they're very nice.

French Quarter! ABSOLUTELY HANDS DOWN.

FQ is smaller in size, there's only the one bus stop so you don't have to worry about that looping business at other mod's, you can walk to riverside and use all their amenities, and the ones at FQ are fabulous. Rooms are beautiful, grounds are awesome, pool & hot tub great! We love it at FQ

I'd say POFQ because of it's size and the fact that there is only one bus stop (sometimes it shares with POR, but not always). Also, there's a boat to Disney Springs (former DTD). Many of the mods are VERY large and spread out, and therefore have many bus stops (sometimes it can be 15 minutes before you leave the resort). It's one of the reasons I don't like Mods in general!

If ease of transportation is your biggest concern, a deluxe would be your best bet as you can get some other form of transportation to at least one park via something other than a bus (no AK).
