Does anyone have any good recommendations for a good recipe website? I was curious if there were any recipe sites out there that may have a community sort of like the Disboards with forums and such?

I like allrecipes.com. I don't know if they have a community, but they do allow you to vote on how well you liked the recipe, and people post suggestions to change things.

I like allrecipes which has a great community with member created recipes and lots of reviews, photos, etc. It does not have a message board but it has a community board where you can ask questions or ask about a recipe and post comments and suggestions. Everyone there is friendly!

There is also chowhound. Chowhound has a message board and it talks about restaurants but one of the message boards is home cooking. There is also a section for talking about appliances, liquor pairing, etc.... There is also a recipes section.

try this one. http://www.epicurious.com/
i've never visited the forums, but they have them. i like A LOT of the recipes i find there. they have good reviews and pics too.

My favorite! I'm not one to cook with condensed soup or velveeta, and every recipe I've made from this site (and there have been many) get raves! I love the reviews, and how people tweek the recipes to make them even better.

for a little different twist, try this blog

www.thepioneerwoman.com

She makes incredible food!! In fact I am using her cinnamon roll recipe right now (its proofing) to make cinnamon bread.

Binny~ can you either post how you adapted that recipe to make cinnamon bread? Or PM how you did it? Also....could I add raisins in it? DBF really wants some cinnamon raisin bread and I just haven't found a recipe that we like yet. Thanks for her site by the way. Off to read her homeschooling stuff now!

Well This is my first go with it and theyre just going in the oven now. So I will wait to give you the full verdict in about a half an hour :)

basically I mess with that recipe a lot. I often use half whole grain wheat flour and half unbleached ( I like the consistency better) and add flax seed so I dont feel quite as guilty LOL

So with the bread I followed everything in the recipe rolled it out, but a lot thicker than I do with the rolls, then added a small amount of butter, did the cinnamon and sugra thing then rolled up tightly and placed the whole roll in the loaf pan. Dont know why you couldnt add raisins to it or nuts for that matter.

The basic dough itself is really versatile, I will use olive oil instead veggie oil when I make pizza or focaccia with it. You can use it as plain bread too.

Its one of the best dough recipes Ive found.

She has great homeschool info too. I implement a lot of her ideas.

I also like allrecipes.com. The ratings and comments are great because people will say how to alter the recipe if it is too dry, too wet, too whatever.

I have all usued recipezaar.com and foodnetwork.com

allrecipes.com is the only one I use. You can read other users reviews and leave your own. A lot of the reviews tell you what the person did to make it taste better, or healthier. All of my Thanksgiving dishes have come from allrecipes.com, from the turkey, to the sweet potato casserole, to pumpkin trifle. I can't say enough good things about this site.

:thumbsup2 I always read the reviews. It will tell you what to expect from the recipe or if it needs tweaking and HOW to tweak it. :teacher:

DH loves that I found Ree's website - aka The Pioneer Woman. And when she started The Tasty Kitchen, it got even better.

Ree's cookbook it at the top of my I "NEED" to get for Christmas list.

I have yet to make anything off of Ree's site that we didn't like.

Me too, the reviews give you a good sense of what exactly might help make the recipe better. There are often very good helpful hints.

ooooh hadnt heard about her cookbook. That will be on my list as well! Thanks

Allrecipes is definately the best. I love how you can change the servings and it will update the recipe for you.
