Reception entertainment (big band?)

Has anyone ever had the big band play at their reception?

I think most people have the DJ, and that's what we're going to have too. I'd LOVE to have a full band at my reception, but it's not in the budget (we can't use an outside vendor at ADH). Disney's prices for bands start at $7,000

I've been to a New Year's celebration at Epcot's Millennium Showplace, where they had a big band with singer. Amazing.

They START at 7 grand? That's practically half of most people's budgets!

Yes it's crazy! Depending on where your reception is, you may be able to hire an outside band for a better price and then just pay Disney the fee for setup/stage.

I'm pretty much just a lurker, and I don't plan on getting married very soon...
but i love everything disney! the ADH is my favorite reception venue, and the stage would just look so empty without a band.
Did you have the 6 piece orchestra or the rock/pop band?

I had a rock band. I had the boys from Mulch Sweat & Shears from Hollywood studios. Here's a pic of me rocking out with them. Don't remember what we paid though it was worth every penny!

We are doing dueling pianos, it's not a 'big band', but it's not the typical DJ -- I just love the vibe of live music! I'm sure whatever you do will be awesome...but just check out your options for sizes of bands, etc. so you find something that still gives you the feel you want, but also is gentle on the pocket!
