My wife and I stayed at the Beach Club Villas from 3/21 to 3/26. The main purpose was to see our granddaughter perform with the musical groups from Minnewaska Area High School in Glenwood, MN. Without any fear of being accused of bias, I have to report that they were super. The music director and band director, with a few parent chaperones, brought 5 busloads of student on a 32-hour excursion to perform at WDW and US City Walk. The cost is covered by fund raising and individual family contributions. The directors assume this awesome responsibility every two years. Because this is a trip report and not a musical review, I guess I should move on.
Our evenings were free, so we were able to partake in some wonderful eating expenses. Citrico's has always been a favorite, and it reconfirmed our opinion that it is the best in the World. My wife had a stripped bass dish that she said was the best ever. We are from Maryland and stripped bass is native to our bay, that was a pretty high recommendation. One of the evening specials was pork loin on spinach risotto. Positively suberb. A wonderful flavor combination. We were assured by the chef that this treat was being added to their menu. Don't miss it!
Couple of meals at Beaches and Cream. Super hanburgers. I made the mistake of ordering a "double" the first night. I hardly had room for the Hot Fudge Sundae.
We waited too long to get PS at Le Cellier. We had to settle on French. Onion soup was wonderful, but nothing else was memorable. My wife just came in and said "Don't forget the bread."
Breakfast at the Polynesian two mornings. Super service, good food, especially the slices of ham. After twnty years and many trips, we finally tried the tonga toast. Hard to judge - seemed a little greasy for us, but it may be a generational thing. I expect that kids love it.
This is getting a little long, but I do want to say that the new MK fireworks are wonderful, and the new Mickey's Philharmagic is a treat. Good for all ages, even with the loud noises - no attacking snake.
Can't wait for the next trip in December with our youngest grandchildren, 5, 3, and 2.
