Recent positive Garden Grocer experiences?

There's a thread on the Families board right now in which many people have been dissatisfied with their service recently. This is making me worried. They are fully booked on my delivery dates and I've had some communication issues. I am really depending on them for baby supplies but I pre-paid so I am worried my $100 went into some hole never to re-appear.

Anyone in the past month have a GG experience that went swimmingly? I need reassurance. Thanks.

I used them last month and all went fine. I did have to make a call to see where my groceries were but it seems that Bell Services at BWV dropped the ball, not GG. They delivered the groceries, but BS didn't bring them up with our bags. Everything was pretty much what we ordered. There were some substitutions but they were acceptable to me.

Jenjersnap,
I posted on the family thread about our poor recent GG customer service issue. I am sorry if my post was one that concerned you. Just like anything else on these boards, you are going to hear the good, the bad and the ugly unfortunately. I have used GG previously and they were okay. So like anything I think it can be luck of the draw. With our little guy now I just couldn't chance it. We are getting a compact car for almost the same cost of GG. (fee $12, tip $15, tax and grocery mark up taken into consideration)

My advice to all on this board is try something for yourself and see if it meets your families needs, that goes for resorts, restaurants, and services such as GG.

 Happy Anniversary!

We used Gardengrocer.com on 8/26/07. Actually, our stay at OKW started on 8/26. Gardengrocer was all booked up for that day, but they had a few openings on the evening of 8/25. I called them to ask if it would be OK for them to deliver a day early and have the stuff waiting for us. They were very pleasant to deal with and said that would be fine. On the evening of the 25th (we were still at home in NJ), I got a voicemail on my cellphone from the driver saying that he could not locate us, but was going to leave the groceries with bell services. When we arrived late on 8/26, they brought our food out of luggage storage, still in the bags, refrigerated stuff was refrigerated, it worked perfectly well. After check-in, bell services took our luggage and our food up to our room. Everything we had ordered was there, exactly as we expected. I would HIGHLY recommend using them - and that's just two weeks ago experience.

I just booked them for the first time for our trip. We arrive at night on 9/22. That date was all booked up. So I chose the next day 9/23... but the only time available was 6-8 pm. I took it. I can handle buying my own water the first day.

I hope it all goes well! Im slightly nervous since we've never done this before! :confused3

I also think I made a major faux pas... I only put $5 for the tip! :scared1: Is that bad?

We've used GG in October '06 and it was a middling experience ... we received bananas that were literally crushed into liquid, new ones were supposed to be delivered but they never came - I wasn't about to keep interrupting my vacation to call them over $5 in bananas so I let it go.

I decided to give them another chance this time though. I guess we'll see. Businesses seem to cycle highs and lows and GG seems to be having a low point ... just as wegoshop did right around the time they changed owners (I've used them too, pretty much a veteran of traveling with a baby/toddler). Maybe they're victims of their own success based on word being spread here?

Anyone else want to report a good, recent GG experience? THANKS!

We are using their services in Oct. I am hoping everything works out. I do want to give them a chance.

I only put $5 for the tip! :scared1: Is that bad?

I tipped 10% - before delivery fee - so it wasn't much more than that. The whole tipping your order filler thing was new since last October so I wasn't sure what was appropriate.

Ok well my order was $40 before the delivery charge so I guess I paid a little over 10%. Thanks! :thumbsup2

We used Garden Grocer in August and it worked perfectly. They delivered everything we ordered in the time frame we asked for. The watermelon we ordered was delicious - both kids wanted more..

We used them for the first time on 8/27. They gave us a two hour delivery tiime frame and they delivered in that time period. All the food was fresh and the fruit wasn't mashed or bruised. I had a very good experience with them and will use them again.

Good luck to you, but I don't think that tipping has anything to do with their service. I was one of the people who had huge problems with them and they were rude and called me a liar. All they had to do was apologize for the mix-up and bring us our items which they didn't do. I tipped them 25% on top of the delivery charge and that was the service I received!

We just used them last week....for baby supplies mostly. Everything arrived and it worked our great not having to pack diapers, wipes, swimmers snacks etc!
Our items arrived exactly when we asked..etc!

Good luck!
