Recent Experiences on DCA Park Opening Procedures?

We were there last week. On Monday 7/21 we were there about ten minutes after opening and got a RSR FP for 1:05. After two hours I tried to go pull another one for RSR but couldn't. Said we had to wait until 1:05. For some reason I thought we could pull another one. Oh well. We got soarin instead! We headed straight to TSMM after getting the RSR FP and had about a 15 min wait. Screamin was about 10. Mickeys fun wheel was also about ten. Same with goofy's. We got a ton accomplished :)

On Wednesday we got to the parks late at 9:30. We pulled a RSR FP for 6:20 at night :)

There is a 2 hour wait to pull another FP from another ride. You can't pull another one for the same ride til the first one becomes valid (ie 105p for yours.)

Thank you!! I don't know why I thought we could after two hours.

Hydroguy - would love to hear your RSR strategy suggestions after your trip.

I'm going for a weekend in Sept and it will be our first time without EE or Child Swap (or promo unrestricted AP FP's, those were nice). Our only DCA options are Saturday or Sunday morning, both I expect to have medium-heavy crowds (morning after the first Halloween party). I assume we should do DCA Sat when there's no EMH. I'll be alone with my 5yo so we can't do SR, and he loves RSR so its a must.

Better to enter and go straight to the FP line for RSR? Or do something else like TSMM then return for a later FP time? And if returning, how late is safe so FPs don't run out?

I'm struggling with the same decision a PP is....do I pull a FP for a different ride (TOT or Soarin') BEFORE I pull a RSR FP (hoping for an evening ride through Carburetor County!) :-)

Our situation:
Monday, 10/6
EMH for us (Disneyland hotel guests) starting at 7 AM
We plan to ride RSR standby once or twice during EMH

My question is: should I pull a different FP at 8 AM when park opens for regular guests, and then just wait (2 hour window?) to pull RSR FP's?
Is that still safe to wait? (I would be pulling RSR around 10 AM...)

I personally wouldn't pull any FPs until the right time for RSR shows up and then grab one. Otherwise you may be blocked for getting it when it is available. I used to grab an early FP for RSR, then as soon as I was eligible grab another for later in the day, but now they have a double block on RSR FPs. You cannot pull a second one until the first one's window comes up, even if you are eligible to pull one somewhere else.

This is an interesting thread! We have our DCA day on 10/4 (Sat, no emh) and I'd love to try heading to TSMM and Screaming. Hop on those a couple of times and then head to RSR to pick up a fastpass. I'm just afraid with it being Gaydays that the RSR will run out faster than normal and everyone in our party will be super disappointed.

What to do... what to do???

Have one person grab the FPs for all of the group and then go join the others. They'll miss out on 1-2 rides at most. The line moves very fast.

Ok. With the idea of someone running to get fast passes for the group, I know that no one is going to give up riding TSMM but I don't ride Screamin so I'm thinking... That we'll head straight to TSMM to ride, then I will go and get in line for RSR fastpasses while the rest of the group rides Screamin. Then we'll meet up. That should work although the line for fast passes will be really long at that point but I think we should still be able to get them.

Thanks! Is this a good plan?

I think that sounds reasonable. You shouldn't have a problem getting them. I'm not sure the line increases that much after the initial onslaught. If anything I think it decreases. Perhaps someone else has better info on that?
