is it me or are prices going up on all things that are liked most on DCL? cruise prices going up, palo's going up. what is next to go up in price? or is it the current CEO of disney just tring to make DCL just like everyone else? i hope not. or i could be the DCL is going ahead with the 2 new cruise ships? i think its the green lite to get the 2 new ships up and rolling. what do you think. thanks

I don't know... I'm just glad we have our rooms booked if the prices are going to go up even higher (meaning higher even when the dates first come out- I realize they almost always go higher as you get closer to the date of the cruise)

I also think the palo increase is nominal- BUT that it doesn't go to the servers bugs me- and I think it will end up cutting into their tips because people are already paying more to go there- might tip less? And I also wonder... how much more will Palo and other things go up in price by the time of our trip? Who knows... Palo could go up, soda sticker price could go up, spa prices could go up, pictures, etc. By the time we cruise in 2005 the prices could all go up. We'll see...

I'm not following that logic.

In fact, if it's true that DCL is waiting for the US Dollar to strengthen against the Euro, then the timing now is particularly bad. The Euro recently hit a record high of over $1.25!

I was a little shocked at the prices I've seen so far for 2005. I'm waiting for the May 2005 dates and prices right now. They are just about out of my league right now so this may have to be our last Disney cruise coming up! (tears starting to well up)

BTW, how much has Palo gone up? I must have missed that while I was away.

Even at the increased price of $10.00 dinner Palo is still a wonderful value!

you do know that the more ships DCL has more money they can make.as you can see the dollar isnt strong in europe so as i can figure increase the fares(generate revenue) and go on with the plans with the 2 new ships.1 west coast and the other in florida. i watched a trucking company do something simular in 1999. they need the money to buy out an other trucking company so they raised the rates and went with the buy out. also look at the fact that the last Disney family member was kicked out of the disney company and roy wants the current CEO to leave. HMMMMMMMM sounds fishy to me. i want disney to stay the was it has been since walt got it all started in the 50's. i would hate to see the family values of disney go away. i love the way disney has alway been. DCL needs to remember that if the average family can sail on DCL as long as the current prices don't keep going up. i know that other cruise lines are on average $500-1200 cheaper but i think thats because of the number of ships they have. im sorry to rant and rave but this is what i have seen in the past and just look at the news. thanks and sorry

KYCruiseCrazy -- What you're saying is partially true: If Disney had one more ship right now, they'd most likely be able to fill it at the current prices during "peak months". However, right now the ships aren't quite full during the off season -- it wasn't full when we cruised in November, and I think that's not uncommon.

Soooo if they had three ships, they'd have more empty rooms during the off season. Yes, a new ship would attract some new business, but not 1/3 more business than they have now. They'd end up discounting more cruises, which would be good for us, bad for the company.

Right now they can charge more than the other cruise lines because we're willing to pay it. It's supply and demand. The supply of rooms is limited, so they can demand the prices they want. If the supply of rooms goes up, they'll either have to increase their number of customers (where would they come from?) or decrease the cruise cost to fill their rooms.

While we're talking about filling the cruise ships . . . as a Disney stock holder, I think the Land and Sea package was a brilliant idea. Disney World parks already have all the business they can handle, and offering the L&S package made people who otherwise would never have considered a cruise say, "Well, maybe we should . . . after all, it's Disney." This package DID make more customers appear. Do they have another such trick up their sleeves? If they launch a new ship, they'd better!

If its just the extra $5. then I agree with threecircles that it is still a great value.

If its more than that Im not sure
