So I haven't been to BB in quite some time, after it became a bit harder to get in, it became more expensive and I also have to say it was because the food seemed a bit lower quality the last few times we had also gone.
So when my 15 year old niece wanted to go I wasn't sure at first but we decided to give it a try. At first when we walked up we were told they had no walk ups but we still told them we would wait, since we found seats in the shade and AC we just didn't care. So we waited awhile and and were told yes they were now taking walk ups and within that time of telling us we were seated very quickly.
We got a good seat not water front but didn't expect one. I am a vegetarian and my niece has a fairly advanced palate for her age, so I was glad to see the Portabello Mushrooms still on the new POTC menu and she chose the Salmon.
First they brought the salad and bread, this was the part that kind of let me down, the salad is not even close to the old Mardi Gras Salad. No matter how you slice it or try to make it seem "fancy" Iceberg is still Iceberg. Though the dressing was good. The bread is not the old sourdough HEAVEN rolls. We use to joke we ate at BB just for those delicious rolls. These again weren't bad but just not the same.
My niece had the Salmon with Spinach and Au Grautin Potatos and she said all of it was very good, she especially liked the Salmon she said it was cooked perfectly.
I was a little unsure at first of the change from the Garlic Mash Potatos and Chickpeas that use to come with the Mushrooms to the Cous Cous but let me tell you as good as the potatos were the cous cous was even better. The blend was delicious and went perfectly with the Mushrooms, everythings was excellent. And one of the best meals I had, ever had at BB.
We also decided we just had to get the Cookie boat dessert and let me tell you it is as good as it looks!!!!!!! Warm cookie, with yummy ice cream and fun edible (not good tasting but edible) decorations, this was a fun and tasty end to the meal.
The service was great from beginning to end (one of the outside CM's was so cute he was sad one of the other CM's got to take our names down first and he told us "OOOhhhh but I wanted to take your names" he obviously wanted to give us the good news hahaha!), our server also was very good, lots of refills and bread before we even asked for more.
Overall it was a great experience and it will definetly make me more inspired to go back, my only complaint is the same one most people have, it is a bit expensive. The Portabello Mushrooms w/o salad use to cost $13.99 with a added salad it was approx. $19 now with the salad (one that is Lots cheaper to make and not nearly as good) its $26.99. That seems like a big jump, I also was a little shocked at the fact the only thing that didn't go up in price that much was the Monti Cristo sandwhich. I would suggest it to anyone who is prepared for the price and really wants the great experience.
